(8,556 posts)First of all, the idiot birthers are talking about Obama, not his father.
Second, while he might have had to jump through some legal hoops and faced criticism for his birth, it's my belief that George Romney would have passed the birther test. His parents were both American citizens and Mexican law at the time called for them to choose either Mexican or American citizenship for their child. They chose American. The problem is that 'natural born' isn't all that well-defined. But I'm pretty sure he would have passed the test and been able to run had he not dropped out.
Third, the Mittster doesn't seem to endorse the birtherism. He's endorsing the Trump fame and wants that moron to generate $$ for his campaign. I don't think Mitt is a birther in any way, shape, or form.
George Romney would have been no less eligible for the presidency than Tim Tebow or Mike Judge (both born to American parents in the Philippines and Ecuador, respectively). This kinda-sorta came up during the McCain campaign and really wasn't much of an issue then either.
And remember, this is the Mittster's father and not Mitt himself.
I really wish we as a country could just stop talking about this birther bullshit. It's stupid, it's annoying, and distracts from the real issues out there. It's exhibit #9,678 that conspiracy theories divert energy from dealing with stuff that's actually important.
