Why didn't Obama mention punishing those who profit from ISIS oil smuggling or states who fund them?

Dropping bombs is viscerally satisfying, but if you cut off their flow of money, their "threat" will quickly be reduced to that of a homeless guy with a plastic spork.

Then they're given a fair chance to plan ahead in order to stop it from happening. Real smart.

What you are saying does not make any sense. There needs to be a clear foreign policy statement that we are going to starve the beast that is the Islamic State. Coordinate efforts with our Allies, put pressure on those that cooperate with ISIS that are not allies and do so that has real economic consequences to state actors and corporation that cannot certify their oil did not originate from ISIS.

You can't do this "stealthily". In fact, you want it to be as public as possible so people know they are going face repercussions. Will some oil get through? Of course, but if you can greatly increase their costs (or drive down the price the dirtbags of the planet will pay for ISIS oil), you can have a very real effect on ISIS.

Or we could just drop bombs and say "fuck-it"
