IMO reasonable gun control would be this:
- license required to own and use a gun (just like one gets a license to operate a 3,000 pound vehicle.)
- liability insurance requirement (just like car insurance)
- legal to have a gun at home (given that there's adequate security in storing it)
- ban on guns inside an establishment that serves liquor.
- gun registration (like you register your car.) The government not knowing what weapons you have is not a legitimate reason not to have gun registration.
- new guns should have a built in fingerprint device or key lock to limit the ability of the weapon being stolen and used
Defending yourself against the government is not an excuse not to have gun control and quite frankly it's pretty much guaranteed if one gets into the shootout with law enforcement that they will die in the shootout or be put in prison for a long time if they survive.
