White Southerners Claim White Pointy Hoods Were for Fun Christmas Thing

It's classified as a regional college; half are from South Carolina, a southern state, and I'd bet at least half of the remainder come from a neighboring state, all of which are southern.

That doesn't mean southerners are more racist than northerners, etc. - just a demographic fact about the school.

Pat Conroy wrote a great book about the Citadel, and what happened to a black student there. It was pretty raw.

It was fictional and the school was called "Carolina Military Academy" in the book or some such. But everyone knew it was the Citadel. Lords of Discipline, it was called. Made into a movie too.

He was hated for years after that.
