Ted Cruz is more dangerous than Donald TrumpBy Ruth Marcus the Washington Post

"SNIP............
Cruz is a different, and in many ways more dangerous, character. Where Trump is emotional and impulsive, the first-term Texas senator is contained and methodical. Contrast Cruzs canny embrace of Trump, his restraint in responding to Trumps provocations, with Trumps explosiveness.
Where Trump needs the ego balm of adoring masses, Cruz couldnt care less what others think of him, except to the extent it might interfere with his ability to achieve his end. Just ask the Senate colleagues who join in remarkable, scarcely contained bipartisan loathing of the man.
Where Trump is driven to boast about his intelligence, Cruz remains quietly self-confident about his far superior intellect. You dont hear him crowing about his Supreme Court clerkship or Harvard Law degree. Trump wants to show you how many magazine covers have featured him. Cruz simply wants to amass, and exercise, power. Publicity is an end in itself for Trump, a means to an end for Cruz.
...........
First, although neither man is particularly constrained by truth or facts, Cruz is even more ruthless and cutthroat. Cruz is best- known for his self-interested willingness to shut down the government over his pique du jour.
But he revealed his true character even earlier in his Senate tenure when he went after former senator Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.), President Obamas nominee for defense secretary. In a manner that evoked the worst of Joseph McCarthy, Cruz smeared Hagel with unsupported insinuations that the nominee received money from foreign governments or extremist groups. There seems to be no argument too low for him to make for example, his recent, four-Pinocchio claim that the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats.

(16,286 posts)I know, I lost the argument when I brought up Hitler
Too bad, it is true.
Not saying he is the same, I am saying he is the closest we have.

(2,188 posts)Cruz opposed it, and wants to cut back government spying. Christie is worse, because he would shoot down Russian planes. Like Hitler.

(2,003 posts)Has he passed any legislation? The only thing I can think of was the government shutdown that burned so many bridges for him I'm not sure if Ted Cruz could even get himself reelected today.

(11,619 posts)Ok, the later is iffy. I am not sure that Trumps ego will allow him to be on bottom.

(2,003 posts)I don't see him getting much past Iowa. Iowa is do or die for his campaign and while he may win it, I believe he'll be joining previous Iowa winners Santorum and Huckabee from the sidelines shortly thereafter.
Sure, now that Carson's campaign is coming off the tracks, Cruz will rally the evangelical and So-Con Republican base but I can't in a million years see him appeal to moderates and swing voters. I will say I think he is hands down one of the creepiest candidates the GOP has fielded in a long time. From his evil Ned Flanders voice to his ill-fitting suits, his pale, sweaty complexion, pursed lips and those disturbing 13 hours of "family time with Ted" videos his campaign released, I just can't see Ted Cruz going anywhere outside of the Bible-belt, and most of these states are already solid Trump country.
Can anyone think of a single state that Romney lost that will go for Ted Cruz?
Honestly, I'd be more worried about Marco Rubio.

Evangelical christian dominionists beliefs are bizarre to say the least.
Right Wing Watch is a good source for information on their beliefs.
