Lawyer for Martin Shkreli Hikes Fees Five Thousand Per Cent
By Andy Borowitz

BROOKLYN (The Borowitz Report)—A criminal lawyer representing Turing Pharmaceuticals chief Martin Shkreli has informed his client that he is raising his hourly legal fees by five thousand per cent, the lawyer has confirmed.

Minutes after Shkreli’s arrest on charges of securities fraud, the attorney, Harland Dorrinson, announced that he was hiking his fees from twelve hundred dollars an hour to sixty thousand dollars.

Shkreli, who reportedly received the news about the price hike while he was being fingerprinted, cried foul and accused his attorney of “outrageous and inhumane price gouging.”

“This is the behavior of a sociopath,” Shkreli was heard screaming.

For his part, Shkreli’s lawyer was unmoved by his client’s complaint. “Compared to what he pays for an hour of Wu-Tang Clan, sixty thou is a bargain,” he said.

Getting the SEC and a swarm of angry rich investors on your butt is one of the few areas in American justice where being wealthy doesn't let you buy yourself out of trouble.

actually wants to come down on these types. From the above article:

"That guy is nothing. He's zero. He's nothing. He ought to be ashamed of himself," Trump said.

Trump noted that he has put hedge funders in his crosshairs. He has said "hedge fund guys are getting away with murder," and he has suggested he would hike taxes on hedge fund managers by eliminating the so-called carried interest loophole in the tax code if he were elected president.

"And he's a hedge fund guy, who, as you know — the only one that I'm raising taxes on. They are going to be paying up," Trump said Wednesday.

"But I thought it was a disgusting thing, what he did," he added. "I thought it was a disgrace."

I'm sure there are other crimes that haven't been exposed yet. Hiking the price of an NOT patented product is not very smart in the first place.

they were collapsing like a house of cards so he kept having to shuffle the deck to find new schemes to pay off the old investors who were chasing him.

Whoops...it all caught up with him.

Unfortunately, it still leaves this medication in limbo and a price too high to pay even for insurance companies and hospitals, which will raise everyone's insurance costs.

He never meant to lower the price, only to profit off of other people's misery.

Ironically, he has made a strong case for regulation targeting pharmaceutical profiteering by being so greedy he exposed the practice.
