That's the title of the email I just got from the Collin County GOP to promo their Lincoln Day dinner. There's a 'Click the link to find out who it is' in the email and when you do that, you find out that it's Dinesh D'Souza (that link below).
Guess Who's Coming To Dinner is of course the title of the 1967 movie where the wealthy white parents are upset when their daughter brings home an African-American fiancé.
So is the Collin County GOP being tongue-in-cheek here, obliviously racist, or just oblivious? I've got to say, it struck me as inappropriate. Curious to see what other people think.

(3,447 posts)One of the X-Men, if I remember right, although it could be one of the alternate X-men type ones, but it had Galactus showing up ready to eat the world (hence the name "Guess who's coming to dinner."
My first guess would be it was an accident, but I'd adjust that based on the age of the people involved. If they're much older than me, I'd have more trouble believing it was an accident.

(49,291 posts)I suspect the leadership of the Collin County GOP is mostly older, white, and upper middle class, but I really don't know that for sure.

(55,334 posts)The bigger scandal with D'Souza is that he's a criminal, not that he's welcomed by an all-white conclave

(49,291 posts)and they've never played the coy guessing game before. One year the speaker was Ann Coulter and I think that was trumpeted in the subject line of the email.
In fact, they sent out two emails this afternoon about it because in the first one the 'Click to see who it is' link went to a 404 error page. That suggests the main issue is blithering oblivion.
