Chipotle’s stock drops after another E. coli outbreakChipotle Mexican Grill Inc. shares closed at a 19-month low on Monday after the burrito chain was linked to another E. coli outbreak, this time affecting five people in Oklahoma, Kansas and North Dakota, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The latest reported cases are being treated as a second outbreak while the CDC investigates whether it is linked to the previous illnesses first reported at the end of October. Chipotle’s CMG, -3.52% stock has tumbled 18% in the period since. It fell 1.2% in premarket trade Tuesday, after shedding 3.5% on Monday. ...................(more) http://www.marketwatch.com/story/chipotle-tied-to-another-e-coli-outbreak-across-three-states-says-cdc-2015-12-21?dist=beforebell

1. And they brag about their quality food sources.
Personally, I think their food sucks. It caters to yuppies that don't know anything about real Mexican food.

4. This depends entirely on the source of the ecoli
If it comes from fresh, uncooked vegetables it probably has nothing to do with Chipotle's handling. Perhaps they should use Ecolab ionic produce washing system...other than that, there is danger of food borne illness in all fresh produce...and probably a way higher risk from organically grown because of the use of natural fertilizers.

10. There is no hard evidence that Chipotle is the source of these cases
265,000 cases of e coli yearly, 45 of which are allegedly from Chipotle yet after 2500+ tests on the restaurants in question no trace of e coli has been found. No employees of Chipotle have e coli, none of the tested foods showed any e coli.
In one case the person showed no signs for 4 days after eating at Chiptole but is now certain that it was Chipotle. With no positively identified source at Chipotle, what chance is there that Chipotle is the media-fueled scapegoat for a handful of the over 800 cases of e coli that are seen every day? |

11. But there is a lot of truth to the idea that Big Food, Inc. & Big Ag, Inc. are highly pissed
at Chipotle because Chipotle, by it's very existence, casts a wave of well-deserved shame on them.
Black Ops at work to take Chipotle down? That's what lots of insiders are speculating... From Forbes: - Sept, 5, 2015 "Late last week, an ad challenging Chipotle’s health and environmental claims appeared in the New York Post. It also provided a website link at which each of the chain’s major branding elements are deconstructed and debunked. A group called the Center for Consumer Freedom (“CCF”) is behind the campaign, though that’s a bit of a misnomer, since it’s a non-profit organization “devoted to promoting personal responsibility and protecting consumer choices.” Its donors are kept secret." --------------------------------- You can bet your sweet potootie that the secret investors are Republican Corporate Functionaries -- since secrecy and Black Ops are their standard strategies. |

12. not saying it is, but how easy would it be for a competitor to contaminate Chipotle deliberately?
Their natural and fresh and locally sourced pledges must really stick in Corporate Food's craw.
Of course, getting foods naturally and locally has it's own risks, but this seem excessive after over a decade of no problems, suddenly all over the map. But I love oddities. |

15. The chance of ecoli coming from anything but fresh produce
is miniscule. Ecoli comes from ass to mouth contamination usually and it is very resilient. It can't be adequately washed away on most produce. Every head of romaine has dirt in it's leaves and a possibility of ecoli or salmonella or other food borne illness. Ecolab has a produce wash that they claim is 99% on most food borne illness without the use of chemicals instead an ionic charge change. Most restaurants don't use it.

Like El Toritos or Taco Bell.

I am quite sure the entities you mention could not care less.

20. You are entitled to your own tastes
But not to your own reality. That would be patently unscientific.
Chipotle has been in Big Food's crosshairs for quite a while. LOS ANGELES TIMES: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says that if you're being pushed around by a bully, "walk away and stay away. Don't fight back." Chipotle has taken that message to heart. Chris Arnold, a spokesman for the burrito chain, told me Chipotle has no plans to tangle with a food-industry front group that has run a series of ads critical of the company's health claims. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-lazarus-20151027-column.html |

19. How is it that Chipotle can't figure this out?
Is it their hamburger? Is it the fresh vegetables?
I have only eaten at Chipotle a single time and that was with a coupon for a free burrito. I thought it tasted fine, but there are too many calories to eat at a single meal. Besides that, I've seen the Chipotle founder on television a few time, and I think he is an asshat. |

That one's up 10%+ already so I could easily sell, but at the price I paid it gives out 12% dividends with plkenty of cashflow so a bit silly to.
Decisions decisions.... still I love idiot panic drops. Guaranteed money for sensible people. |

22. years ago when i was allowed to bring food in for a treat for my immune suppressed wife
her oncologist went on rather extensively about what restaurants were allowable
She had a taste for a local mexican chain...the good and rather brilliant doctor vetoed the choice seems the use of fresh veggies and such is a potential minefield had a talk a few weeks ago with someone who had a double lung transplant she also has similar restrictions..... no salad bars no buffets no pot lucks list goes on and on it is not just chipotle its the type of food |
