Ever Heard "They Are All The Same" From Anyone Talking About Politicians?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by mcar (a host of the General Discussion forum).

I have, way too many times. All of us here know all politicians are not the same. The problem is the half of the people that don't vote see the "government" working to make sure the .01% gets everything they want, while their family suffers. They blame "Washington" not Republicans, or Democrats. They are too burned out to even think past the sound bites.

It would be nice if all of our party stood up for the 99% all of the time, so no one could ever say "they are all the same" again. Too bad half our Democratic Party is working for Wall Street, and the fat cats, and not our families.

If Democrats (all Democrats) fought as hard for the 99% as the Republicans fight for corporations, and billionaires, we wouldn't have Republicans.

Go ahead. Nominate the 3rd Way, DLC, girl, and have her campaign paid for by the fat cats that are robbing our families, and destroying our planet. Just pretend she will look out for our families, instead of the people that gave her all those millions for her campaign.

Time for change. Will it happen? With 50 Trillion Dollars in wealth choosing our candidates for us? With the entire party infrastructure supporting the Wall Street candidate over the one that has worked his whole life for working families?

Use your heads people. For once.

opening your eyes when you wake up in the morning.

If you dont, you could and in fact will bump into the bed post or dresser and bruise your shin.

It isnt the most exciting thing you will do that day, open your eyes, but it is something you must do if you want to accomplish ANYTHING else. How could you drive to work? Prepare breakfast? Shave? (I have done that one hung over way way back in my drinking days, almost like doing it with my eyes closed, ouch)

Opening them doesnt make you see better if you have an astigmatism like me, I still have the astigmatism when I open my eyes, but not opening them would be what, stupid?

In fact, if I dont open my eyes and I try to drive, like I said, I could fucking die.

Had an argument with a right-wing co worker who said "Paul Ryan caved to everything the Democrats wanted in that budget just like Boehner did". I pointed out to him if he thought the Republicans were going to shut down the government this close to a presidential election when it was wildly unpopular, he was an idiot. Of course, he blamed the shutdown on Democrats.

a "well they all suck and are corrupt" NO...no they are not. Not by a longshot. Usually it ends up with the teabagger demanding that I explain why DeLay is not in jail if he is soooo corrupt. I doubt they understand Sugarland politics. Some of the most corrupt people live in a wide area between there and Houston.

Most don't say DC, they say corrupt local politicians and they are right. Texas is ripe with GOP criminals. Not so much with Dems. They have a hard time naming any bad Dem. It is always about other things like abortion and guns and the Dem is always trying to rule over them etc.. poor oppressed billionaire evangelists and their flock of white, armed and rich followers.

If they say government they are talking about Obama, I doubt they even know there is a Congress. Most of these types do go out and vote. They do what their pastor or priests tell them to do.

Wall Street is where the hippies have built their drum circles in hopes of resurrecting communism. You need to go tell those other folks to use their heads.

Everyone seems to be on target on DU. Most of us are still recovering from 2008. We don't run around wanting to blow up PP buildings. We don't want to shutdown Congress. Dems are more focused on the important things, that is just the way it is.

So yeah...they are not even close in ideology. HRC or Bernie have concerns over the nations population, they might differ in some other things. The GOP has concerns over creating disparity socially and economically.

Use your head.

Carlin knew he was up on stage due to people like Lenny Bruce getting arrested for the right to free speech. He is right on a certain level that they don't give a fuck until you stir the shit and make a stink. Carlin knew things change and capitalized on what changed for the worse, he would also give what changed for the better its due. He was a humanitarian.

The GOP clown car was a great topic for Carlin. You know he must have voted Dem all his life, but that probably would have dragged his act down if he had brought it up a lot.

Your OP is literally an argument that hillary, and "half" the democratic party are the same as the republicans.

I vote your post title and first paragraph the most dishonest I've seen on DU in December. You set it up as if you're refuting the "they are all the same" but you are, in fact, making the classic "they are all the same" argument. Yes, we get it. They're all the same, except your guy. He's the one if you love everything that is good in life and hate everything that isn't.

Their base comes out no matter what. People who buy "they are all the same" bullshit sit home or vote for spoiler candidates.

I am ashamed to admit I promoted and believed that "tHey are all the same" garbage. The election and re-election of Ronald Reagan woke me the fuck up. Terrible distructive policies. I was particularly appalled by Iran-Contra

Jesse Jackson was my guy in '92 primary. Very strong liberal
Gore was my guy in '00 primary. Because he was VP
Kerry in '04 because of his strong liberal voting record in the senate.
Edwards in 'O8 because he talked about the two Americas
Bernie in '16 because I am totally in agreement with his economic policies.

I pick the candidate in the primary who is closest to my own views. That's who I support and vote for.

I do the same in the general, who is closer to my views, who will come closest to advancing issues I care about, who will be the most constructive. tHat will always be the democratic candidate, as Republican are so destructive.

Once Bernie wins Iowa and New Hampshire I think he's gonna get a lot more people's attention. He's got an excellent chance to be our nominee, and I will be so proud to vote for them.

If not, I will still do everything in my power to keep whichever one of these vile destructive Republicans out of the White House. aNd Republicans in Congress as well.

W almost destroyed the country. Cruz, Trump, Rubio, et al will finish the job.

Sorry for the long rant.
