Shattering

For Republicans, 2016 will prove to be no normal election, because it will confirm that the new America is here and that the counterrevolution has lost. That is why I expect the result to be shattering for the Republican Party as we know it.

2. I've been saying it for a while

Simple demographics doom the Republican party. They either have to change or go the way of the Whigs. Instead of working to change they have instead chosen to prop up their withering base, which might work in the short term, but will ultimately hasten their demise. Once the GOP figures out they will never again win a presidential election they will never survive as a regional party. At some point the rats will start to abandon their sinking ship.

4. That depends on us being able to show up in numbers greater than the ...

... rigging of the electronic voting machines.

Sorry, I shouldn't be so cynical on Christmas.

5. It has to be said

Don't feel bad.

It's simple, the party who doesn't show up loses.

7. that is why the ground game is critical.

I can no longer physically make the rounds of door knocking in my neighborhood but I can do phone banking GOTV. If folks are reminded by a caller who is "your neighbor in Westville" and I mean that truthfully, it is a lot more powerful than a canned call. Plus, I get to hear what is on folks' minds. Often there is just a machine picking up but I always leave a message...the same "your neighbor" one I prefer to do in person but something is better than nothing.
