DU Family! Christmas Miracle UPDATE!!! THANK YOU

Last edited Sat Dec 26, 2015, 03:38 PM - Edit history (2)

So a few days ago, I went out on a limb and asked you all a big favor.

And truly, many of you came through.

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

You are all heroes to my family and they are very grateful.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, or are interested in knowing the full story of what happened within the past 3 days regarding our little Christmas Miracle.... Just check out the fundraising link and scroll down to the bottom to read the latest fundraiser update to get the new full story.

(Also, I took a photo with my in laws right after we told them how much we've raised so far. They are still in shock in the photo, and they still are.)

Again, I can't believe how shaken my paradigm has become. I'm so used to living in a world where random acts of kindness are rare and truly hard to come by. But you've all proven me wrong, because all we had to do was ask. And a true love shined through, and aided the ones I care for. Thank you all, so much.

This is just an update, and we still have a goal to reach, so if you can still lend a hand, we'd appreciate it greatly. And if you can't contribute, please share the fundraising link, because that is just as helpful.

Thank you all again. Thank you, thank you, thank you...

Sincerely,
retrowire

UPDATE: Original OP is here, for those of you who want to see what an outpouring of true love from our community looks like: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027471196

UPDATE excerpt from fundraising page update:
So you may have noticed there is still a ways to go. This is because, if the goal is reached, then we will have essentially wiped their debt slate clean. It will truly give my in laws a brand new start on life.

The outstanding debts that remain are:

-4 months of back rent.
-January’s rent.
-January’s electric bill.
-Tires for their car.
-January medical expense for my in laws.

The fact is, there is still no source of income for them other than my father in law’s small disability check. We have certainly given them security for the time being, but as with all things in life, nothing is certain. If no one in the family is able to secure work in January, then we’ll be back to square one with the electrical bill. This is why I ask for more help.

If we make it to the goal, we will be giving them a New Year to start from scratch.

I want to point out that the goal has not been met yet. They are still $1620 short of starting the New Year with their back rent, utility bills, and January rent paid so they can maybe climb their way free of the hole.

(that is when we are not sniping at each other on the Primaries forum)

Many are still out of town this weekend, perhaps even this week. So hang on at least until 2016 and we will keep kicking it.

Our love and hope to your family.

For you and your family. I think many of us here know what it's like to need help. And even more of us, being liberals can imagine what it's like. J

and mark it, as I have done, as an excerpt from the page. I believe that if DU knows that we can provide a clean slate for the new year, including the rest of the back rent the family owes, then people will hasten to help out.

So you may have noticed there is still a ways to go. This is because, if the goal is reached, then we will have essentially wiped their debt slate clean. It will truly give my in laws a brand new start on life.

I will send a check. Is there an address you can send me by PM here at DU?

I don't know what I did wrong but I have had trouble before using the automated systems. It's very frustrating.

that giving out my physical address online is one of my big no's.

My only options for donation are PayPal and the you caring fundraising site. I'm sorry.

Your consideration means alot though.

Can't blame you for your hesitancy to give out personal stuff. Entirely understandable.

Hope my other channel will work!
