This Muslim Family Visited a Restaurant in the Deep South and Got an Unexpected Surprise

In Facebook post on December 25, Eslam Mohamed said he was dining with families at a local Olive Garden the previous day when a stranger paid for the entire table’s dinner. The table consisted of seven Muslims adults and five children. Mohamed said that it was clear his party were Muslim because of the women who were wearing head scarfs.

When Mohamed asked for the check, the waitress brought him a receipt with the following written:

“Paid. Merry Christmas Beautiful Family.”

(snip)

Mohamed said he was touched by the kind gesture.

“I can’t express how this act touched our hearts,” he wrote. “Among all the bad things happening to Muslims and the hate speech that the presidential candidate has made lately, there is still light in the dark, there is still hope in the frustration. All I can say to who did that: Merry Christmas to you too and God bless such a beautiful heart you have.”

Wait until the Donald hears about this! He will track the giver down, and make an example of them. What a loser, giving to those Muslims. Trump is giving the entire country a bad reputation, other countries think we ALL agree with his loud mouthed rants. Fortunately, we know there are more good people than republicans out there in the good old US f A.

is even mentioned in this story. It sounds like it's such a surprise that any one in the south would be kind to a Muslim family.

The story is heartwarming however.

The south in many ways is not what people imagine it to be.

For instance, Dallas has one of the largest Iraqi refugee programs in the United States.

Changes are most definitely afoot, I'm convinced the Internet has sped up the process as well as more people by the hour are increasingly exposed to information and perspectives from locations different than their own.

If it ever really had it in the first place.

The recent ugliness and hatred regarding the Syrian refugees should be all the proof anyone needs to confirm that racism is alive and well and prospering in most states in the union.

Well, THAT generation is OVER.
The poverty and desperation in The South make it Ripe for the Picking.
Low hanging fruit.

Besides, The South is beautiful, and belongs to ALL of us. Why just give it to the "necks".
The kids are online, and with Sat TV have broken the control that used to be owned by the preacher and the parents.

The South, with plenty of clean water and fertile ground will become even MORE important as The West dries out.

Give me hope for the better nature of human begins. There are many days this last year, where it was not entirely clear there were any kindness left in our world. Listening to the hate speech of the RW would make one think kindness is a forgotten virtue. Thank you for this.
