I know to expect some ads when i go to a newspaper article

or even routine click-bait, but it's getting out of hand. Some articles are impossible to read because the print keeps jumping around to accommodate a new ad popping up at the top of the screen. Others try to load so many video ads that it locks up my machine!

There must be some point where the ads become counter-productive.

The ads are how you pay for content.

However, I know exactly what you mean, and it makes some websites impossible.

It is free and it works very well.

If you visit a site that has mandatory commercials, you just pause AdBlock

and refresh the page.

I no longer have to watch commercials when I watch videos on YouTube.

It has increased my speed a small amount.

I have a lousy internet speed, so every little bit helps.

It is free to install.

Just type in AdBlock and all the info will come up.

I run mine on Google Chrome.

I hope this helps.

Saves time.

Oh, yeah, them. Worthless.

I don't watch television either. I have zero tolerance for advertising that moves.

A few static ads don't bother me. The ads in paper newspapers and magazines don't move, and that's the way ads ought to be on websites too.

Especially irritating to some of us on really slow dsl, some of the ads cover stuff up and they have gone to cheating by putting to X's as in closing window and one, the most obvious is usually one that takes you to the ad..

Make income off ads to keep the site available.

We love raising mininum wage but hate web sites making a profit.

What a joke.

I'm a web developer--that's how I've made a living for over 10 years now. I want websites to be profitable but they lose profits when you visit the site and can't get the content you want to get to because of ads causing people to leave and not visit again. There has to be a better way to generate revenue from a site than annoying pop-up ads/videos that make sites unusable for some people. This is even worse on smartphones.

Making a site inaccessible is not a good business model and it's not a good user experience.
