An armed people are a free people.
If our forefathers were not armed before the American Revolution we would all be speaking English today.

Though to be fair as one of my kin states, We speak American. English sounds too gay. So Norquist is getting a double dog whistle in on that one.

...of such ignorance.

Years ago, the wife of a minister, who was, herself, not traditionally religious, told us about a member of her now-ex-husband's congregation who did not approve of foreign languages being taught in American schools. This doofus' rationale was, "If English was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me."

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
