The Cable News Talking Heads Are Really Raking John Edwards Through The Coals.....

Now I know he is a cad and I don't like what he did to his dying wife - and yes this affair was going on while he was running for President. I know all of this but the fact that even Paul Begala is saying John Edwards is done, cooked or through - I just don't buy it. Look at how many Repugs survived all kinds of embarrassments and still are around and kicking in public life. Hell - think Bill Clinton - he got a blow job in the White House. He went through all kinds of embarassing accusations and he has survived. He was the President when all that happened and we forgave him.

I don't buy it that John Edwards is cooked. They are kidding on MSNBC that the only thing that could save him is if he invented a 'solar car'.

Come on - think Charles Colson; Vitter; Bill Clinton; etc - basically a whole string of personalities and politicians that have made it through even worse embarrassments.

Am I wrong here. Don't others out there think that we'll eventually forgive John Edwards or he'll somehow find Jesus and make his way back into our lives?

None of those men cheated on a wife with terminal cancer, much less had a baby with a woman not his wife, and paid for it with funds from a 100 year old woman that he snookered.

He probably is done.

Unlike the other pols with moral failures you mentioned, Edwards committed the worst moral crime possible.

He was championing the plight of the working person in his campaigns.

That cant be excused by the elites.

And there is a slew of evidence to back that up. Phony from the tip of his head to his well shod elitist fucking heels.

Republicans can do terrible things and they are quickly forgiven - if anybody even objects in the first place. Democrats, not so much.

We have standards and integrity, words that the majority of Republicans couldn't find in a dictionary...much less understand what they meant!!!

the prosecutors did NOT prove the case, but the despicable piece of lying shit is thankfully done- and I don't and never did care about his affair. I cared about his disgusting use of the poor to further his political ambitions.

You are so wrong. He is so done. I am so glad of that.

9. I've chalked it up to being one of those things I will never understand.

Here is how I look at it, many folks are completely willing to accept a rehabilitated philanderer, someone who cheats on and is dishonest with the most important person in their lives and take a huge risk in doing it. Its a horrible thing to do and the fact that it is scummy should deter people from doing it. But we can still forgive it except if we add to that the spouse is terminal with some disease, now its unforgivable.

It doesnt make sense. Its a horrible thing to do anyway. That extra bit doesnt change it significantly for me. But, oh well. I've made my peace with not understanding it.

For others it probably isn't possible ever because they've judged him on his actions. He can never undo what he did to his wife or however that personally affects/offends/disgusts certain people.

I don't think he'll ever be forgiven enough to run for office again. I was a supporter of his in 08 and I know that I will never support or vote for him again.
