Cologne Mayor: No sign alleged New Years assaults are linked to refugees

She has also suggested that people keep a one arm length distance between people they don't have close contact with. Which sounds like it makes sense.

Perhaps this rush to judge refugees for the assaults in Cologne have been misguided:

Cologne Mayor Henriette Reker stressed that "there is no sign that it concerns people who came to Cologne as a refugee" speaking during a press conference on the topic of alleged mass sexual assaults in Cologne, Tuesday.

SOT, Henriette Reker, Mayor of Cologne (German): "There is no sign that it concerns people who came to Cologne as a refugee."

SOT, Henriette Reker, Mayor of Cologne (German): "It is always possible to keep a certain distance which is longer than one arm’s length, to not seek close contact to people who are strangers, to people who you don't have a close contact with. But there are also many other possibilities, to stay in groups and not let one be divided from the group. To no stay in a festive mood to go with some person, to stay in the group you went out with."

1. That won't stop the right from chanting: "The Muslims are coming. The Muslims are coming."

And its not just "the right". Many on this board are unfortunately co-opting that exact chant.

That is a serious contender, even so early in the year, for "most fuckwitted statement by a politician in 2016."

5. The other day a very good hearted DUer posted advice about being on-guard against assaults

by steps such as maintaining situational awareness. That DUer was -- unfairly -- raked over the coals. Yet, what this mayor says is being called "good advice" as if rapists are deterred by simply keeping arm's length.

I don't know how I managed to restrain what might have been a PPR-worthy outburst at some of those folks...

And yeah...that mayor is a drooling cretin.

...who clearly despises women and hates them, a born-and-bred misogynist behind the times who should be removed from office and re-educated.

Now it's a good thing, because gee, it wasn't those sweet, innocent refugees whose presence has required us to suppress virtually all news coming from anywhere in Europe except Poland. If you can't see how this double narrative will be the death knell for our side just as the R's was for theirs, you need to wake the hell up.

Also, someone tell this ignorant fool that there is virtually no place in public where you can guarantee you are over an arm's length from anyone. For testing this assertion, go to the doctors office, the mall, a supermarket, and a movie theatre. Return with your success rate. Mine is 0% over the course of my entire lifetime. Add in governmental buildings (post office, yay!) for even finer testing granulation.
