But I still intend to vote with and for progressives. Also, does anyone have a message for me to deliver to the oligarchy?

(13,873 posts)Why are people standing in long lines to buy tickets? Do they really think they would notice a difference in winning $900 million instead if one of those typical crappy $50-100 million jackpots?

(8,646 posts)is that I know people who have won.
Not large amounts like hundreds of millions...but this kid my brother played hockey with, his parents won $1 million twice within 2 years. This was back in the 80's when that was a lot of money. They were very famous for awhile for winning twice. The dad quit his truck driving job. That lasted 6 months, LOL, he got bored and went back to work. They gave away $100,000 to various charities. Didn't change much else - stayed in the same house. The kid had better hockey equipment. Went to the same school. Last I year, everyone was doing well, kids were not entitled, were grown up and working for a living.
Then some guy at my mom's work won $100,000.
Then 2 years ago my parent's next door neighbor won $46 million with part of his office lottery pool. He ended up with 1.2 million (no tax on lotto winnings here in Canada, there were lots of people in his office pool). He was near retirement anyway, so kept working part time. He'll be done next year, then he won't be my parent's neighbor anymore.
These are all people that live in the same small town. We all know each other. So now I can't help but think it could happen. So I buy. Never know. One thing I do know - you can't win if you don't buy.
