Zombie proof condos sell out

By Susan DeFreitas
TG Daily
May 31, 2012

Looking for a condo that will survive disasters both natural and unnatural (i.e., the Zombie Apocalypse)?

So are a lot of other people, apparently, as we recently caught wind from CNET that the trendy flats on offer at Survival Condo —a converted nuclear ballistic missile silo in Kansas —have already sold out.

Perhaps this had something to do with Mother Nature Network rating this development as one of the "best U.S. places to survive the apocalypse"?

We’re not sure, but with plentiful supplies of food, air and water, the idea is that you can not only wait out Armageddon underground, but wait it out in style.

Once the doomsday scenario plays itself out and you come back to the surface, there won't be anyone left. It'll be just you, your selected (and probably racially/culturally homogenous) bunch of buddies, and (what's left of) nature.

Me, I'd rather fight it out on the surface, take my chances with collecting survivors and making a community to survive under the light of the sun and moon. It beats dying old and (for the most part) lonely.

with some rich motherfucker who is stupid enough to think he can live underground forever.

I say, lets all stand our ground and hack it out in broad daylight with axes and shovels and the occasional 12 gauge.

I prefer the chain saw, FWIW....

The problem is the conditions around the area. Some people have built things that are totally hidden, with sheltered entrances, etc. The problem for them is the perimeter and the locals who might know who has what stored and what is available. The fortress mentality only goes so far and hiding out for any length of time.

It is part of people arming up and going out and buying land. The assumption is that people in the cities will be living in war zone like hovels and they will need to protect themselves. I've seen very complicated plans on these and the blogs that some of these folks are into over the years. They even discuss how to make sure their wife, girlfriend, doesn't get pregnant because they don't want to bring any children into a post-apocalyptic world. This is big business and it's built on fear. Deep fear.

The zombie's already have the plans. They'll be the first to go. It'll make an ideal zombie base of operations for the global takeover.

About all those old missile silos being sold as homes: what's the radiation count on them? Was there any leakage? If so, was the amount trivial, or potentially dangerous? It would be rather ironic, wouldn't it, if in pursuit of a home to protect one from the Apocalypse, one purchased a property that would kill one in the end.
