Were gona wake up and see the militia occupiers being frogmarched out of the reserve..
I think the Feds are approaching this very carefully and a have a ton of work to do in the staging
of such an operation.. Including getting enough men in position to launch w/o being observed..
This is why its got to happen soon.

(39,961 posts)nothing more than this to turn into a major armed conflict. All those wonderful minerals and other resources, not to mention that teahadists in general would love to start a shooting war, and the GOP praying it turns ugly in time to hit the Democrats with it during the election season.

(12,657 posts)And that takes a lot of planning and scouting.
The trick will be to keep them from going batshit on the locals. Unfortunately, those bullying assholes are the type who live off of fear, and I wouldn't put it past them to start actually physically harming people they don't think are properly "patriotic Amurikkans". These guys want a race war, they want people to be afraid of them, because that's "respect" in their twisted little brains, and it's blood and tears feed the beast within that keeps their souls warm and whispers "godly" encouragement to them.

(13,889 posts)When Native Americans occupied Alcatraz Island the federal government waited 19 months before going in and clearing out the last few holdouts (after most had given up and left). Unless there's imminent danger to life these things tend to unfold slowly. People demanding a swift and decisive end seem to be forgetting that, as well as forgetting that an aggressive approach tends to create new grievances that longer for years, eg the MOVE house in Philadelphia or the waco siege. I certainly want hem out of there, but would much prefer that to be in the form of a peaceful surrender than some sort of SWAT operation.

(10,164 posts)...there's a real good chance law enforcement on the scene will be needed to protect the militants from the locals. It's rural Oregon. I'd estimate household gun ownership out there at about 80%, and I'm probably being conservative. They already can't stand these out-of-state interlopers barging in with their bullshit, disrupting their lives. And between Burns and Hines (the towns near the refuge), there are about 4500 people...

They are already inside.
