I'm from New York

I'm getting pissed listening to Cruz insult us. He's such a despicable person who has no right to criticize anyone. I don't know why I'm letting him even get to me but fuck him.

Such a stupid thing to say. But think of how many other candidates he gets in that net? Trump, Sanders and Hillary (though the after isn't a native).

He doesn't like NYers because he's such a dick he'd get admitted to Bellevue within a week if he spewed his shit here.

OK, it's not as many as Texas (155), but it's not to be sneezed at. It's almost twice as many as Virginia (49), one of the Super Tuesday states you're targeting.

Several oppo research staffers have undoubtedly filed this one away. If, by April 19, you have not been eliminated but also have not clinched, you just might be reminded of your attitude toward New Yorkers.

Christie or one of the others would win. so he loses nothing by going after ny and gets support in texas and other places for doing it.

You can read the allocation rules here. For delegates allocated by Congressional District and for 11 statewide delegates, it's winner-take-all for a candidate who gets more than 50% of the vote, but otherwise it's more complicated. Even if Trump (or someone else) were to break 50% statewide to get all 11 of those delegates, Cruz could still hope to win delegates in some CD's. For example, under similar rules on our side in 2008, Clinton obviously won the state, but won the split of pledged delegates by only 139 to 93. This was partly because the Obama campaign had studied the rules carefully and knew that they could pick up some delegates even in CD's that they lost.

Reality check: the only time that republicans care about us is when we are in hijacked planes being flown into buildings or in buildings being flown into by hijacked planes.

I am not joking or making light. They fucking *hate* us unless we are a prop they can use to stir up shit.

New York has been the go-to bogeyman for evangelicals since at least the 19th century: Sodom & Gomorrah-on-the-Hudson, nest of vipers and corruption, the dark forest of immigrants and Catholics and Jews, Oh My!

Newt Gingrich practically built his career on pledging to protect the decent people of Cobb County, Georgia from invasion by the hordes of the People's Republic of Escape From New York.

I was surprised that the applause for Trump wasn't louder, Cruz I guess knows his audience.

If in some horrible turn of events I was forced to choose between Trump and Cruz it would be The Donald over Dudley Dooright in a New York minute. Cruz offers us the nasty bigotry of Trump without the humor.

There is a lot of old populist resentment here in more rural Midwestern areas against people from the coastal big cities who are seen as arrogant, dismissive, and patronizing towards people in "Middle America".
