Ted Cruz: "Ronald Reagan did not spend the first 60 years of his life supporting Democratic politicians."
No, shit-for-brains, just the first 51 years. Reagan was a Democrat until 1962, when he was offered some serious bucks to campaign against Medicare as a monstrous, communist plot; and he switched to the GOP at age 51.

(2,188 posts)He said not the first 60. Reagan was a Republican at 51, so I don't see what you're trying to say.

(12,723 posts)Young Reagan was OK. Old Reagan was a tool used by diseased men to destroy the American way of life. Far fucking worse than the commies the SOB railed on about.

(12,723 posts)After five acrimonious weeks of intense back-and-forth, the two sides reached a compromise. It contained three parts:
Actor residuals for all studio films made starting in 1960.
No residuals for any studio films produced before 1948.
In lieu of residuals for films made between 1948 and 1959, the producers agreed to a one-time payout of $2.25 million, a contribution SAG would use as seed money for a new union health insurance plan and a pension plan.

BTW, he was elected president of SAG a few months before the blacklist began and four years before the first Bonzo movie was made. But he also did inform and testify before HUAC.
