(15,480 posts)inside a cat bed on my sheltered front stoop. She dashes off when I slowly open the glass storm door to replenish her heated tuna cat food (3 times a day) or replace the frozen water with fresh water. But she comes right back as soon as I close the door, quickly chows down and hops back into her heated nest. She came for the bowls of dry food and water I leave out for passing strays, and stayed for the 4 star treatment.
The heating pad is designed for cats and is clever in that it only turns itself on in response to pressure.
It's been over a week now, and she's made it through some sub-zero nights. My two previously rescued cats hang out right next to her, so to speak, next to the full length glass storm door. My 2 are a calico and a ginger tom. Newbie is a lovely all white cat. They make a very handsome trio.

(9,426 posts)I always believe that rescue animals KNOW they have been saved by the humans who save them. Sounds like she has a welcoming committee all set to greet her. I hope she lets you get her inside soon.

(15,480 posts)on the coming blizzard pretty much veering around us. I just bought 6 bags of birdseed at Audobon/Beechwood Farms . Heck, I'm saving so much money on gas for the car - lots to spend on keeping my 6 birdfeeders topped off.

(2,338 posts)That is a regular event in my house. My stray came to stay permanently two years ago. He does not like to be disturbed during nap time....which is pretty much all day long. His name is Scavenger. He is a beauty. Gray and white, really big boy. 15 pounds on your lap makes your legs go numb really fast. Trust me.
My other two kitties reacted like polar opposites when he came to stay for good. One is his best buddy. The other resents him. It is HER house, after all. SHOW SOME RESPECT YOU INTERLOPER!!!
All in all, peace reigns. Most of the time.
Your babies look very sweet.
