(40,126 posts)for the first of many times. Snow is fluffy and light, not difficult to shovel, so there's that.

(1,045 posts)I'm an hour outside NYC but we're not expecting much here.
I do remember 2011 and 2012 winter storms. I'm from Michigan and have never seen snow like that, so I'm cautious even though it's been predicted we won't get much.
Thanks!!

We hereby name this winter storm Snowzilla
By Angela Fritz January 22 at 11:20 AM
Weve thought about it long and hard this morning and although Make Winter Great Again has the most votes and is certainly hilarious it doesnt make for a good name, or a good hashtag. So were going with the runner up: #Snowzilla!
Snowzilla makes so much sense to us because of its perfect nod to this Godzilla El Nino. And quite frankly, this could be a Godzilla-sized winter storm.

(51,308 posts)Our local power guy is our neighbor. Thank goodness, because we've lost power twice.
He and the guys were here cutting trees a few hours ago.
Our geese, chickens, ducks, and other critters are all good.
Been a rough day here on the farm.

(9,314 posts)I got as prepared as I could for this: got a kerosene heater, stocked up on food, batteries, etc. But the most wonderful thing happened: I heard someone shoveling outside my house, and there was my neighbor! He cleaned from the porch, down the sidewalk and the walk in front of the house. He said when I got up tomorrow morning, I would not even see that he had shoveled.
I have great neighbors here.

(141,926 posts)Kids will probably come by here, in Silver Spring, some time, but having such neighbors is terrific!

About 6 inches so far.

(4,460 posts)Light and fluffy is good, but it will make it worse when the winds start.
It the snow gets heavy, take it easy, heart attacks are often the largest fatality.
