The old saying is "defense wins super bowls". I think that was on display tonight. Carolina defense put up a great fight as well. Hope everyone had a great time, congrats to bronco fans, and to Carolina fans... I think you guys will have another shot next year. Cheatriot fans can eat shit

(2,931 posts)At the end of the game it wasn't egregiously officiated. Bottom line was the defenses came out to play

(5,693 posts)Than enjoying the teams that ARE in it. Oh well. Jealousy and envy does strange things. And yea, let me head you off at the pass....."Cheatriots, Shady, deflated balls....waaawaaawaaah". By the way, why so hateful towards Patriots fans?

(2,931 posts)I have lived my whole life trying to be as fair as possible. And to be fair, it is Brady and Bellichek doing the shady stuff, not the fans. However the fans do come out and defend them every single time they are caught. I guess that's why I bring them into it, even though I tried to temper the comment down with a smiley face.

(21,506 posts)Can't agree with the idea the Denver d was great.
They allowed a lot more yards than the panthers did.
They got a couple of key turn overs but that is about it.
The panthers beat themselves with penalties in key situations in my opinion.

(1,683 posts)and less about choreographing his next triumphant dance, Carolina would have had fewer penalties.

(45,473 posts)The ball never touched the ground. Why wasn't the call on the field reversed.
As for the game, after the first quarter, you knew Carolina would lose. They never made a single adjustment and Newton looked exhausted the entire game.

(58,645 posts)I'll venture an opinion. The ball moved when he first landed. Yes, he recovered control, but one could argue he didn't maintain control throughout the landing, which is how the rule is worded.
I'll allow that the ref, upon review, didn't think there was enough evidence to overturn the ruling, which is the heart of the replay process.
IMHO, it could have gone either way, and as a 3rd party (not a big fan of either team) viewer, I have no problem with the call.
Not sure about after the first quarter, but that shot of Cam when they went into halftime was rather telling. He looked beat up then.

(37,573 posts)I disagree with the part about defense.
Some teams have won with defense - other teams have won with more class.
How did the Packers beat the Patriots? First with Favre to Rison on their first play of the game. Then when it looked like the Patriots were coming back - Desmond Howard with the nail in the coffin. We answer your five minute touchdown drive by scoring in ten seconds. BOOM.
Did the Rams win with their defense? Or did perhaps Warner to Bruce have something to do with it?
Of course, I though the Titans might win that as they drove down the field and threatened to score. I thought they should go for two since the Rams could not stop that runner.
