As a veteran and ally I am ashamed and repulsed...

Last edited Mon Feb 8, 2016, 12:55 PM - Edit history (1)

I have had short periods of homelessnes myself. Crashing on friends' sofas. Feeling estranged from society at home. Tried to flee abroad to forget and re experience the adrenaline rush that living on the edge gives.

Take a one way ticket half around the world with almost no money, no place to stay and just a job address to go to.

Take the challenge from there my friends!

'

I know the numbers are sinking, but I am still repulsed. 1 homeless veteran is one too many. And what did they sacrifice themselves for?

THIS is what they sacrificed themselves for!

"Approximately 3.3 million Iraqis, including 750,000 children, were “exterminated” by economic sanctions and/or illegal wars conducted by the U.S. and Great Britain between 1990 and 2012, an eminent international legal authority says.

What I am REALLY repulsed by is how sensitive some people are to the Truth!

We love exposing republicans for their deep corruption and blood money, don't we?

But what if it goes a bit wider than just neocon republicans?

You can tolerate refugees drowning in the Mediterranean, you can tolerate arms deals, and big time donors, but you cannot tolerate being directed towards how those arms deals are being made and EVERYONE who has benefited from their donations.

This is not what I thought I fought for. I may have pulled the trigger on some Serbians I have never met, but I surely as hell didn't make a buck out of it. Others have pulled the trigger on Iraqi civilians or pushed the joystick button from a bunker, stearing a drone right into a family on their way to the market. Or the son of a suspect!

You say "support the troops! Go to Iraq and Afghanistan and fight for Western values!" And when many come home, and some of us starts following the money. Some die on the street. Some come home and end up as some deranged militia member Some manage after years of struggle, and some end up as Sniper Kyle (NOT a war hero).
I am repulsed by the fact that you don't want to know exactly what your tax dollars have been spent on, and who has been benefitting!

"Freedom of speech for me, not for thee."

I live in a world where sensitivites of the establishment are more important than pointing out consequences of said establishment.

When grownups push for war (and they have arms dealers as their donors who profit from war), kids die.

Somehow pointing that out goes against the rules in any "civilized society".

I am saying that every tax payer and voter has blood on their hands as long as they keep endorsing war mongers who insist on making the same mistakes again!

The sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expect different result.

I must say that someone pointed out the issue of censorship in an excellent way by the way...

I tell them please "show your support and gratitude by not voting for the people that choose to continually keep us in a state of war and fear".

while being cheerleaders for war and supports candidates who has donors among the war profiteering industry.

I hear crickets when they get some awful truths shoved down their inbox. Or I get compaints because I am "mean" to their dear leaders. It makes me slightly ill.

Thanks for the headsup mate...

You know of any veteran around in your community who struggles, help them out.

And don't vote for politicians with a history of war mongering.

I ponder who the REAL enemy is. The ones who send us in to war and treat many of us we don't exist or treat us like dirt when coming home, or the ones they order us to shoot at....

goes to WAR PROFITEERS. Our biggest industry is WAR. It doesn't have to be, but religion and mass media perform the brainwashing to make it so. And rich people continue to get richer while feeding of the misery of the masses.

...goes against decorum...

It's like the Emperor's new clothes with an alternative ending!

Instead of listening to the boy, the king gets his armed guards to take out the boy, and make the crowds cheer for him again as if nothing has happened. Now, they go on a media campaign against the boy for spreading propaganda and stirring up the masses against their fashionable king, making the whistleblower the villain...
