Man, I hope he does this. The conservatives will absolutely lose it.

On edit: Not sure this is a done deal, on further reading it seems like speculation. Perhaps scotusblog knows something though as they edited their earlier post.

(14,255 posts)Have not seen anyone from Wall Street prosecuted yet.
She seems awfully conservative to me.
Those are definitely minuses, though I'll give her a pass on the Wall Street thing. She's only had the job for about a year and it takes time to build a case.

Tom Goldstein is one of the most highly respected Supreme Court litigators in the country (a reputation obtained only when one has a deep understanding of the politics of the USSC). He isn't just a neophyte out there throwing in his two cents worth.
On the other hand, the article is pretty cautious and hardly seems like a prediction. It is good reading though.

(10,130 posts)I'd like to see someone from west of the Mississippi, but I'll settle for someone from west of the Hudson. And someone not from Harvard. Time for some diversity on the bench!
Given the problems Lynch had with her Attorney General nomination - all the GOP's fault - I don't see her being a shoo-in. And she's doing a decent job in her current position.
I'd like to see Goodwin Liu get the nod, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
vdogg
(1,384 posts)She's probably not even going to be confirmed, and they know this. She'll just be a candidate the republicans can chew on for a few months and highlight their intransigence. This is a strategic political move, and nothing more. I'm sure there's an option 2 candidate that will be pulled out once republicans reject Loretta.

No thanks.

(37,573 posts)after Republicans shoot her down, they will look worse if they try to shoot down a more reasonable nominee.
Still, it would be nice to see a coal miner's daughter on the Supreme Court. Score one for the working class.

(7,404 posts)A special prosecutor and remove herself from any decisions involving what DOJ ultimately does with the results and recommendations of the FBI concerning Hillary's classified information problems?
It's an interesting angle to consider, I don't see Hillary being charged with anything but they may go after her former aides since it sounds like most classified information originated or was placed on her server by them.
