(3,569 posts)ding a freaking ling. Nestle sell the water they get for less than free back to the citizens of Flint because the governor poisoned the water, deliberatly.

(1,683 posts)1. Flint needed the water from Lake Huron and should of kept taking water from Detroit rather that the Flint River in the interim.
2. Water in Mecosta County has absolutely nothing to do with Flint.
3. Lake Michigan (and the entire Great Lakes) are fed by run-off from the Great lakes watershed area, not by underground aquifers.
4. If people's wells are going dry in Mecosta County because of what Nestle is doing, that would be a cause to rein them in. This just doesn't connect.

(36,294 posts)This report shows that the Flint water treatment plant was treating between 16 million to 17 million gallons of water per day during the month of May, 2015. At a rate of 400 gallons per minute, the Nestle plant uses 576,000 gallons a day.
Never let facts get in the way of a good rant.

(5,417 posts)They are not getting it treated by flint. They are treating it themselves.

(36,294 posts)I was just making a comparison how much water the Nestle plant used as to how much the Flint treatment plant treated for use in the city of Flint.
The Nestle water plant and the Flint water situation are two unrelated issues. Shutting down the Nestle plant would have no impact on Flint nor would shutting down Flint water use completely allow Nestle to be able to pump more water out of their wells.

(5,417 posts)Somebody just saw a loose connection and wanted to write a story.
I dont think its a big deal. Farmers and large manufacturers never pay for water. If you pay the electricity to pump it, its yours. Not to mention out easy water rights are not fought over. I can pump as much water as I want.
