(19,807 posts)being interviewed were always asked by the reporter what questions should be asked. I don't think that changed until 60 minutes came along and started to "Gotcha interview" style. But everything was more civil back then. No one ever question what politicians or business leaders said. No one questioned what the defense department said about Viet Nam. That was "And that's the way it is" from Cronkite.

As he has said many times,if you only knew how things are created and various themes are used to do on air programming. If Station Management liked someone who is of his or her friend,the Q&A was crafted to go softball. And that Station Management was and is hard core Rethug.
