"Rubio’s hectoring melody overlapped Trump’s exasperated harmony"- Repub whinefest

Frank Bruni at the Times is one of my favorite columnists. He's got lots of insight on the Republican slime & whine fest that fouled the airwaves last night.

Bruni: "...But Rubio turned in Trump’s direction with particular force. With ferociousness, in fact. He recited a meticulously memorized litany of Trump’s transgressions..."

1. Clangorous chorus

This passage, deep in Bruni's column, cracked me up:

"Do Trump, Rubio and Cruz Have a Future as 1960s-Style Girl Group?

I previously mentioned the interweaving voices of Trump and Rubio. Toward the end of the debate, these candidates did a reprise, and Cruz also stormed into the song, so that all three of them spoke at the same time and formed a clangorous chorus..."

Rubio, whiny and petulant - perfect

Cruz, hated by his colleagues - perfect

Trump, wheeling out his tired clichés - that's why his base loves him

We may see them as "smaller and smaller " but his fans eat that up. His lack of any plans also means there's nothing to attack him with

I don't think the debate last night changed anything for Trump

Great article. Thanks for posting this

Trump never says anything specific. He just makes big promises, and never ever says how he will fulfill them.

Lack of specifics makes for a shitty deal. What are the specifics of Trump's plans? I would never, ever let up on that question...make him put at least a few freaking cards on the table, or make him out as someone who obviously has a Big Batch of Crappy Hateful Ideas that he is keeping HIDDEN for nefarious reasons.

Last night demonstrated that's clearly his weak spot. The moderators and the other candidates finally seemed to figure that out last night

But as Bruni says, its probably too late
