2. Exactly. Republicans have gone beyond loyal opposition to Obama and they're paying for it

The whole opposing Obama anywhere and everywhere, if he said water was wet, they would disagree.

Doing this for eight years has motivated a range of people that are otherwise too ignorant or too fringe to involve themselves in politics. This range has combined into a faction of sorts that are absolutist, inflexible, unrealistic, destructive, and self-defeating. Let's just hope that last part stays in play.
