I watched a report about the Nancy Reagan funeral service

on Miami's Local 10 (ABC) and the female reporter mentioned Michelle Obama, Dumbya and his wife but omitted Rosalyn Carter.
Sometimes I wonder if it's just plain dumb or just deliberate.

If it was deliberate, Michelle Obama would not have been mentioned.

and he mentioned Hillary sitting next to Laura Bush and even showed a clip with Rosalynn next to Hillary and did not mention her name. He mentioned Michelle Obama, George Bush, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton and completely ignored Rosalynn Carter.

But I love it when comedians (Jimmy Fallon??) make fun of his speech by pretending to be him saying, "Rory McElroy."

Even thinking about it makes me laugh.

then no, it's not out of the realm of possibility.

BTW, "too young" means under about 45 now (Jimmy left office more than 35 years ago), and I'm willing to bed most 10 year olds don't pay that much attention to politics. I'm 30 and I probably couldn't have picked Nancy Reagan out of a crowd.

I have no idea why the Reagan's despised the Carters as much as they did. Maybe it was because the Carters Walked & Talked while the Reagan's never did anything but fuck up the nation.

He is deliberately ostracized in group photos of past presidents. Have never understood. The R and D guys intermingle so it is not a party thing. I am not surprised but I am offended to hear about this. Graciousness does not cost money. Graciousness is something we all can practice.

Carter was a Washington outsider, and is a pariah to both conservative Republicans and "centrist" Democrats.

Neither group wants a photo of themselves getting chummy with him.

I'm surprised Barbara didn't show up, unless she's got a medical reason. She showed up for a Jeb rally recently, after all.
But from what I remember of the 1980's, Babs and Nancy didn't like each other and treated each other the way cats do - they ignored each other as much as possible.

...would attend the funeral of a former President.

President Obama didn't need to attend, so long as Michelle did. Same for Shrub; Laura was supposed to attend. Having the Shrub attend for his mother if she were capable of making it to the ceremony is just crass.

My rather catty observation was based on the fact that for all her "old money" pretentions and attempts to appear grandmotherly when she was a First Lady, Barbara was more wolf in grandma's clothes than the grandmother, as it were. The role of First Lady seemed to be something she didn't really want to do, even though she should have been able to handle being a hostess from the various executive level positions GHW Bush had held over the years, and from her background out of wealth. Barbara would have been aware that she should have made an effort to attend if she were capable of doing so.
Come to think of it, I don't remember if Barbara attended LadyBird's funeral, either.

I'll admit to just being catty then. The one time I was in the same location as Barbara Bush, I felt the same sort of presence I felt when being in the general area of Dick Cheney. Just didn't want to draw any attention from either of them, and I really never wanted to be introduced.

And going back to the OP, it is a sorry state of our Media to not call out all the First Ladies in attendance.
