Honestly I think the other Repubs, including the ones who dropped out, are almost all far worse. Think about everybody who has run in the Repub primaries. Walker, Santorum, Jindal, Cruz= worst of the worst Rubio, Bush, Carson, Fiorina= more than bad enough. Trump and Kasich might be a close call but I'd still prefer Trump. I don't know why Reid later pretended he was joking when he said Trump is the Repub he'd least mind seeing in the White House.

(86 posts)When it comes to social issues, we know he's a fake conservative who suddenly "evolved" his positions to pander to the evangelical base. Donald Trump is secretly pro-choice, pro-single-payer, and "don't give a shit" about gay marriage. He openly supported all of our social issues until recently. I'm pretty sure he'd put moderate supreme court justices up for nomination. He even said that he'd like his sister to be one of them, and she's already struck down a ban on partial-birth abortions.
When it comes to foreign policy, he's right up there with the hawks on the furthest right.
So I guess that by a little, he is the best one (over Kasich). He's certainly not an out-an-out 100% evil bastard like Ted Cruz. He's only like 80% of that. He's like a DLC type of Democrat, except really, really scared of tan & brown people.

(95 posts)Even Hilary copies the Repubs and randomly mentions Israel when asked about something that has nothing to do with Israel. Although Trump did pretend to be more pro-Israel than he really is in the last debate when people were mad at him for saying he would be neutral on Israel-Palestine.

(43,268 posts)He's a dangerous lunatic who's bred a hate movement. He's extraordinarily bad among a field of awful.
There's bad (Kasich), really bad (Rubio), and horrendous (Cruz). And then there's Trump. In a league of his own.
Stop trying to justify him. Just stop.

(26,795 posts)and yet, I find myself saying the same thing. I do think Cruz is as extraordinarily bad as Trump, with the other two being the field of awful.

(23,499 posts)I used to think so, but since Trump's use of bigotry and encouragement of violence came to the fore, he looks a great deal more dangerous.

(5,610 posts)I might hate their ideas, but I don't think they would either start a nuclear war or become like Hitler. Trump and Creepy Cruz, not so much.
