Because it will be nonstop through the summer and Election Day.
Is she better than anyone on the other side? Yes. Is she a strong candidate? Very doubtful. Lots of weaknesses.

(58,785 posts)of hearing about your damned e-mails!"
Guess what else? When they bring up Benghazi, we bring up proof that the whole thing, years of it, was nothing but a made-up sliming of a political opponent, and then we follow with Hillary's powerful performance at that last hearing where she calmly wiped out a whole roomful of slimeballs.
Just how awesome Hillary Clinton can be, btw, is the last thing they're going to want America reminded of.

(67,057 posts)If you're really concerned about impeachment proceedings, you should vote for the Democrat on the ticket and help the Democrats retake the Senate.

(15,139 posts)Since Hillary supporters seem to be moe interested in alienating Bernie's voters than giving us solid reasons to vote for her (fear of Trump doesn't count) and Republicans hate her with fiery passion, it's a crapshoot that she could pull off a victory in a year when people are done with the status quo.
But, yes, should she win, impeachment proceedings, if the R's are still in charge, would start before she finished her inaugural speech.
Orrex
(67,057 posts)You seek to reduce the entirely legitimate concerns about a Trump presidency to "fear of Trump." That's childish.
I am not afraid of Trump, but I recognize the catastrophic disaster that would result from his election. Therefore, the rejection of Trump is more than adequate reason to vote for the Democrat on the ticket.
It's funny how some of Sanders' supporters consider her a Republican in all but name, yet Republicans are the only people who hate her more than Sanders' supporters.

First, he would be president, not dictator. All that crazy bullshit about a wall and Mexico paying for it and banning Muslims and all that other ignorant shit he spews is theater. Congress is not going to do that, no matter who controls Congress. All this fear-mongering around tRump's "policies" is silly.
I am far more worried about his interactions with world leaders and the embarrassment of having this moron elected president. He has the vocabulary of a 6th grader. I care for that reason but the rest is hyperbole.

They will try and some will continue to use it to justify their already developed hate for Hillary.

(13,598 posts)Clinton is a hate figure on the right, but so would Sanders be.
She's also currently something a hate figure on the far left, but I hope that will fade rapidly after the primaries. Take a look back at DU a couple of years ago, and you'll see an awful lot of admiration for her; I suspect that most (although not all) of the Sandersites will go back to believing that they were always at war with Eastasia just as quickly and comprehensively as they changed their minds in the other direction.

(13,598 posts)I don't know if you've noticed, but the Republicans have been going at Clinton full tilt for years, and have already extracted what juice there is from most of her alleged flaws.
So it's a fairly safe bet that she won't suddenly become massively less popular between now and November.
By contrast, Sanders has not had that experience of roasting. He's been handled with kid gloves by the Republicans, who would dearly love to run against him; if by some implausible catastrophe he were to win the nomination he would suddenly find himself having to face what Clinton has weathered for years, and more, and would probably melt down in the face of it.

If Bernie was the nominee, there would be non-stop ads about him being a commie, honeymooning in Moscow, praising Fidel, and writing about women wanting to be raped.

No wait; that's not right. I can remember things that happened more than a day ago. The Republicans have been riding these issues like Slim Pickens at the end of Dr. Strangelove. With more or less the same result.
