'Trump is tapping into the anger of the people' is very deceptive or downright wrong. I call it the "You know? (fill in the blank) syndrome. For example. You know? Mexicans are stealing our jobs and raping our women. You know? Politicians in Washington are stupid. You know? You know? I think that is why Trump can be equated with Hitler, Mussolini and many other dictators throughout history who rose to power. They cause people, who do very little real "thinking" or are "lazy thinkers" or do not contemplate or think at all, to believe anything. It's simply a tool used to create a foundation and avenue to power. You can call it fear mongering, which it is, but I think it's different than that. In the hands of a narcissistic sociopath it's downright dangerous.
Trump is using the questions we all have about society and twisting them in a way that make the "less decerning" believe what he wants them to believe. He justifies his ends using any means. The Talking News Heads need to start telling the truth. Saying that Trump is creating anger. Not tapping into it. Hitler convinced the German populace that Jews were the cause of all their problems. Financially and socially. It's sad that so many can be led to the edge of anger. I fear many will actually take the dark leap into destruction.

(53,410 posts)Unlike most of us Trump who normally has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the type of people who follow him understands their nasty, seething, vitriolic hatred of anyone who is different in any way from them. In my view I think deep down he feels the same way they do. I imagine his entire life is to win at any cost because he feels he's been mistreated by life.
Being filthy rich doesn't make people decent or gods or God's favorite or likable by their peers. I imagine there aren't too many moneyed people who like him or treat him well. He has to do things like pay the Clinton's to come to his wedding which makes him falsely look like they're friends who are close enough to be invited to his wedding. It begs the question of who else does he have to pay off to look popular.
I haven't seen any rich people backing him. I haven't seen any major publications backing him. He doesn't seem to have any wealthy peers standing with him on his stage. I think the only people who admire him are wannabe rich ones.
His immense ego is really delicate and easy to hurt if his reaction to any criticism is to hit back in the nastiest way he can think of. He hits very low, with the intent to win the fight at any cost.
And he's blatantly empty of any substance whatsoever. He has no depth, no nuance, no empathy, no plan, no goals other than to slap the world's face by winning.
If he gets elected that nasty characteristic will spill over into his foreign policy. God help any country he perceives is insulting or belittling him.
