Alabama Gov. sex scandal getting more and more interesting.

1.

1. Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley and his top advisor, Rebekah Mason, with whom he admitted having inappropriate sexual conversations, no longer attend First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, according to a statement from the pastor.

"While church discipline is a church family matter, both Governor Robert Bentley and Mrs. Rebekah Mason are no longer members of First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa," Senior Pastor Gil McKee told Christian News Network on Friday
http://www.al.com/living/index.ssf/2016/03/gov_bentley_rebekah_mason_no_l.html#incart_river_index_topics

Hmmmm..sounds like they were booted out. Baptists can be pretty severe.
his supporters are NOT gonna be happy about that.

2. Her husband is sounding more like he was bought off to look the other way.

Jon Mason also collects a state paycheck, serving as executive director of the governor's Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives, also known as Serve Alabama.

The scandal currently rocking Montgomery has generated serious concerns about Rebekah Mason's high-power position in the Bentley administration and about hundreds of thousands of dollars Bentley's campaign paid to a company owned by the couple, RCM Communications, during the 2014 campaign.

It also raises the question of why Jon Mason, who worked as a weatherman before joining the Bentley administration, was chosen to head up an important taxpayer-funded state agency that controls millions of dollars and is overseen by the governor's office.

The state paid Jon Mason an annual salary of $91,400.08 in fiscal years 2014 and 2015 for his service as head of Serve Alabama, according to the state Department of Finance. He received an 18.7 percent raise between fiscal 2013 – when he was paid a salary of $76,999.92 – and fiscal 2014. He also received $76,999.92 in fiscal 2012, his first full fiscal year working for the state.

3.
And then there is this:
Rebekah Mason is listed in official filings as the lone officer of RCM Communications, which was paid more than $400,000 by the Bentley campaign between RCM's formation in July 2013 and November 2014 for consulting and polling work, according to state campaign finance records.

True dat. My mom and stepfather couldn't get married in the baptist church we attended. They wouldn't perform a ceremony for divorced people. But after they visited the JotP and got it legalized, the church welcomed them and their 10% tithe checks back.

Oh wow. Esp. since the divorce papers have been sealed.
I suddenly realize that it is to his advantage to have them sealed, not as much to hers. ( altho proper Southern ladies do not want stuff like that being common knowledge).

Basically all access to the governor goes through her. She commutes 2 hours each way from Tuscaloosa to Montgomery and is not a state employee. She is compensated as a consultant through some campaign slush fund. Her husband, a former meterologist, is making $90K overseeing some kind of state organization with a paltry $4 million annual budget.

Talk about emasculating!
