And they've disappointed me every time. This year I got wise and picked them to lose in the second round, and they decide to go and win it all

I am happy for V, feel sorry for UNC. Amazing finish by Villanova: ball leaves his hands; 0 time left in the middle of his shot. Amazing shot by Jenkins.

but, no dice.

What a game. Those last two 3 pointers.

Gotta' hand it to Villanova. They hung in there and came back the second half.
The Heels couldn't buy a basket the second half. What a nail biter.

Everyone I know here is pissed, depressed, and generally disgusted with the passage of HB 2. It's a response to be expected
in Chapel Hill, which is an oasis of blue.

It would have been really nice to be able to celebrate this team as National Champs.

I can tell you that we may have seen the end of them, though.

The Republicans have it in for UNC-Chapel Hill as a liberal bastion of excellent
public education. They would love nothing more than to see the school deteriorate.

Compare tuition (in-state) at UNC-Chapel Hill $8562. in-state and $33634 out-of-state and tuition at Villanova at $47,616.
Or at Duke--our dreaded basketball competition just down the road--at $49,341.

The Board of Governors--dominated by Republicans appointed since the Republicans took over the
Legislature--recently hired GW Bush's former Education Secretary Margaret Spellings to be President
of the UNC System. She's nothing but a Rovian Bush bot boot licker. Doesn't even hold a Master's degree.
Has a history of serving on the Board of the parent organization of University of Phoenix and a student
loan collection agency. Great credentials, huh? They are going to try to privatize functions
of the university and in fact are already trying to sell out the Student Bookstore.

It may become a lot tougher to recruit talented student athletes for teams. We may also see
an effect on faculty recruitment and retention the longer the Republicans control things.

We simply have to GOTV in November. We must elect Roy Cooper Governor. And we need to throw
as many of the Republicans out of the Legislature as possible, given the gerrymandering. They have
done a tremendous amount of damage-- in what had been a progressive southern state--in four short
years.

It would have been really nice to celebrate this men's basketball team as National Champs.

Proof you really only have to watch the last 3 minutes of any basketball game to enjoy the hell out of it.
