Now, just using the words "superb journalist" in the same sentence with Megyn Kelly makes me hysterical but, I could be wrong. What do you think, DU?

I do wonder what she could do away from that cesspool.
Mr. Maru and I watch MSNBC, CNN and about once or twice a week, we watch "the comedy channel." We submit ourselves to this for a variety of reasons including being ready for arguments with others, looking to see what is driving all sides, hearing many points of view.
I'll say this. I did SO enjoy it when MK told the *ing Turd Blossom that it was OVER and President Obama was in. That was awesome.

(62,599 posts)this is the worst of the worst reality tv bs money can buy.
it all started when dump had his secret meetings with ailes.
they were supposed to "iron out" there differences.
all I know is, after each and every meeting there was a new "controversy" magically happen between fox, kelly and dump.
it now has grown into a life of it's own, mostly because the other media outlets started running with it to leach off the ratings bonanza that fox has been enjoying as a result.
if anything this latest passion play of stupidity between the parties involved, changes the map in our future reality tv shows will be created. mark my words.
in the past "reality" tv was far from it. they are scripted and then edited and re-edited to create a drama with no basis in any form of reality all to grab eyes of "real people" being angry at one another. (folks let's be honest, that's what gets the eyeballs to watch).
but this latest pile of horseshit is about power, money, ratings and most of all, fox news.
kelly is now touring the various other media outlets as the "feel sorry for" darling of "news journalists" who is milking the insults "thrown at her" by dump.
none of this is real. none of this is spontaneous.
we have entered into the choreographed news era. before, there were always bias's and out right stumping for one candidate or another, but this is more a glorified infomercial for dump and fox than it is any actual shred of reporting.
Randolph Heart is rolling in his grave pissed off that he didn't think of it first.

(26,778 posts)There was Kelly on Sunday Morning, which is on our teevee out of sheer habit, telling the world the American media has a liberal bias all except fox news which is not at all slanted. I swear I was laughing and puking all at the same time. No more teevee on Sunday morning in my house. But she's a "superb journalist." Can I safely say I've heard it all.

(4,176 posts)As to journalism, we need more good journalists in local newspapers.
This is how we know about bridgegate, Flint watergate, etc. And the rightwing politicians who are corrupt, and since they almost all are, we need lots of journalists.

(21,195 posts)But she also knows how to play the hack really well. You could claim all FOX news people are fake personalities that play the FOX game for a lot of money. None care about being good news people because FOX news isn't news. It rarely even tries to be news. Thus Megyn Kelly rarely tries to even be a journalist since the place she works at has no use for journalists.

What does that word mean?
It's a put-down assigned to women (always women, and only women). It's a word of contempt, meaning the woman is very stupid and very pretty. Because it's derogatory and gender-specific and is based on male hatred of women, it's a misogynist slur. Rather like "whore", "slut" and "cunt." Those words imply contempt for a woman largely because she is female. Make sense?
There is no equivalent word for males. Why do you think that is? Who invented the word, "bimbo"? Who uses it? What stereotypes does it play to?
You are following the tried-and-true tactic of putting down a woman in gender-specific terms, even though your beef with her has to do with her character, not her gender. (Like Trump with his, "She's got blood coming out of her... wherever". Congrats on being in such good company.)
BTW, the meat of your post attacks her character (for choosing to work at Fox). That's fair. But it has nothing to do with her femaleness.
Let me guess: you frequently call women bimbos and whores whenever you disagree with them or dislike them. Your boss, the cop who tickets you, the lady who cuts you off in traffic. My, my. Aren't you a fine specimen.
I'm curious at the widespread acceptance your words are getting. Ten thousand liberals and Democrats and progressives on this site - and they're all okay with this.
Color me disgusted. But I'll stand up and be disgusted out loud, even if I'm (apparently) the only one who is.

(71 posts)I find it hard to stand up and call out this kind of thing, when it's widely accepted (as it seems to be, judging from the lack of outcry).
I figured I'd be shouted down - accused of "being a fan of Fox news", "whining", "playing the gender card", "playing the victim"... or I'd get the obnoxious "Don't you know women have REAL problems like violence... how dare you whine about a WORD? Oh, you pearl-clutcher! You're no feminist!"
But now, you've made me glad I said something.
Maybe there's hope.

(71 posts)Hopefully feminism isn't just a 'special interest' on DU.
Equal respect for both genders, recognizing and calling out misogyny no matter who does it, and acknowledging the oh-so-obvious fact that women have been fighting an violent uphill battle since civilization began... should all be mainstream issues for civilized people.
I will work to make it that way here - and please join me in that.
