I remember talking to people about this in 1998. That is when liberals I know really started to hate him. When welfare reform happened some of them even stopped being Democrats. I went to an event where a lady who was a professional story teller wove those facts into a story and then talked about the difference between AA people who use drugs and white people. The difference I am sure will shock you white doctors don't get arrested but 20 something AA people do and they do hard time in prison.

Some on DU are averse to Counterpunch - but I'm amazed by the number of essays and articles that show up on their site that others refuse to print or publish. That our newspapers are in the pocket of the CIA etc. isn't news, that the so-called liberal-left media carries water for these agencies should never be forgotten. RIP Mr. Webb.

Thank, but I just gave the link. I wish I had the knowledge and insight of some of these brave writers. We really have to move past the manipulated(CIA) Reader's Digest version of history and learn the truth. Many new facts have emerged over the years from FOIA and declassification docs. Good researchers and writers are now piecing the real facts together - making some people very uncomfortable and defensive.

I thought the Jeremy Renner movie Kill the Messenger was fairly well done - and amazingly enough - covered (albeit as a movie) by TV shows and even some print media. Seems to take many decades before the truth is allowed to percolate into the base of common knowledge.

Well a little background, even though this was a governor conference at Bush's home in Maine, it was for handling Reagan's Drug War.

But at the same time, Bush was doing his Iran/Contra/CIA thing.

X CIA chief Bush and now VP Bush was in charge of the drug smuggling and was also Reagan's drug czar . Talk about a fox in the hen house.

The two important places the CIA used were Mena Arkansas and Enterprise Alabama

other than people in the incredibly small world of politics attending the same social event.

Trying to claim some guilt by association in that teeny tiny world of politics, consisting mind you of just a couple thousand people, total, by Bill Clinton being somehow involved in a massive international drug trafficking conspiracy is just a load of hooey.

I read the stories decades ago, and now they're being conveniently recirculated now that Mrs. Clinton is running for President.

My bets are on that Lewinsky has been approached with a fat cash offer (or ten) to regurgitate her story as well, and ante up that bet with what's-her-name who claimed Bill flashed his willy at her. Oh the horror.

Guess what? Bill Clinton was never perfect and never claimed to be. I worked on a campaign of his waaaaaaaaaay back in the day, the guy couldn't keep his willy in his trousers, he was always waving that thing around. BUT he never hurt anyone, he never forced his attentions on anyone, he never intimidated or lied. He was a sweet talking, smoooooth guy with a great smile that could charm the pants off pretty much any interested female, and like a lotta guys, was absolutely certain he was born with the very first, and certainly most spectacular penis. So. What? Doesn't make him a criminal, much less a rapist. Just a horny smooth talker.

THAT was his worst 'crime'. Not drugs running, no grand conspiracy to infest communities with crack and blow. Trying to insert Clinton into the Mena/Barry Seal drug-running saga doesn't hold water. Trying to play the 'oh look, he's BEST friends with _________ (list criminals here) and ergo DON'T VOTE FOR A CLINTON, won't play to anyone with half a brain cell.

Look, Obama can't run for President again, which is a genuine tragedy. He is the best and brightest political leader in the past 150 years on this planet. I wish that Sanders had the true potential, but he doesn't have that certain 'it'. That star quality, that.... certain something. His finger isn't on any particular pulse, and I wish it were. He's good, and nearly great, but not good enough.

We all know the GOP doesn't have a leg to stand on; their field is tainted, polluted and just fetid and rotting from every crevasse. That leaves Mrs. Clinton, who is a genuinely esteemable, intelligent and compassionate person and woman. She'll do just fine.

as Hillary and Bill have done. DOMA came from an adulterer. He should have defended marriage from himself. Hillary just got done telling the world that Ron and Nancy were AIDS heroes when they were the unmitigated villains of the era.

31. People's opinions change. Bill's infidelities have nothing to do with any LGBT issues, I can't
Sat Apr 9, 2016, 08:41 AM
Apr 2016

imagine any connection there.

In reference to DOMA, it's clear from all documentation that the Clinton administration considered the issue to be a state's issue, keeping in mind how quickly things change, blink, and it's some 20 years ago. Times and popular thinking changes rapidly in this day and age. Republicans turn into Democrats. It's great to have tattoos. It's cool and trendy even to be gender/sexuality/fluid. Bruce Jenner became a chick. Twerking is socially acceptable. People can change their minds. It's not a crime or even an injustice. The moment is now, and the statements now must be the ones we rely upon.

And just because the Reagan faction didn't know what to do about AIDS/HIV and didn't do precisely the best things absolutely necessary in hindsight, especially considering what we know now about AIDS/HIV, doesn't mean that a small bit of credit can't be given for, as Mrs. Clinton said, [sic] 'for starting a national conversation' about AIDS/HIV. They did that. It wasn't much, but shouting now that 'it wasn't enough' and somehow blaming Clinton for the Reagan era actions serves nothing. The road to cure for AIDS/HIV has been a very long one. It's a complex and complicated disease that is nearly 100% preventable on a personal level. But credit is due as it was during Reagan's tenure, in 1987 lest we forget, that critical actions involving protection of the US blood supply literally halted the spread of AIDS/HIV via blood transfusions. The national dialogue indeed began under Reagan, this is not false and it makes no sense to villify Clinton because of Reagan. Kind of falling off the chair, really, since she was speaking at a funeral. She was supposed to say what, exactly, at that particular time and place?

I'm no reagan fan, none whatsoever. But I will say this in a modicum of defense; Ronnie Reagan had absolutely no effing clue about what to do about anything unless he was told to. He was nothing more than a daft puppet manipulated by the bush cabal, in total, sum and completion. They practically told him when it was time to poop and how to wipe. He really was the accidental president and for his sake, I'm really glad that he lost all memory of the horrors he went through at the hands of the bush cabal. He was nothing more than a gentle fool who got rode hard.

You can give your vote to whomever you choose. But a vote for anyone but clinton when it comes down to the wire, will put trump in the white house. Don't blame me.
