The outside of my apartment caught fire.

The outside of my apartment caught on fire. My neighbors alerted me and used the fire extinguisher. I caught Tater and Moonpie and got them in carriers. I am airing out the apartment.
It turns out one of the idiots who lives here flicks his cigarette butts out and one smouldered and caught fire. They found a pile of them. The siding and mulch was burnt.
At least it wasn't that bad and they know what caused it.
I DO NOT NEED ANY MORE ADVENTURES IN MY LIFE THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

LAWD!

I'm sure glad you and your kitties are OK.

And your neighbor deserves a swift kick in you-know-where!

Plus he needs to stop smoking.

Our house burned down from a fire that started outside. We think it was from a barbecue we'd had 36 hours previously, but I've always
wondered whether it was from my husband smoking outside and not using an ash tray. It had been very dry that August, leaves already
starting to fall, and our siding was wood. House was an inferno in a matter of minutes. Fire department had to back out from the heat
and go defensive to keep it from spreading to the neighbors on our wooded hill. There were 59 firefighters here from three different counties. Fortunately, Mouse and Simba were already outside--we
used to put them out at night--because there was no time to search for kitties and get out alive.

It was 4:30 in the morning. My son was awakened by the smoke alarm outside his bedroom. I had
gotten up to go to the bathroom and realized that the strange light I was seeing outside our window was fire.
Our dog came out with us. The kitties were both out--and they each came back to the house in the next two days.
The fire fighters were fantastic. They did not let it burn to the ground. We lost almost everything, but some
surprising things were salvaged, including several photo albums that the insurance adjuster discovered and showed
us how to take the photos out, spread them out, and let them dry out from the water.

Who needs unnecessary drama like this? Crap like that is optional ...

I hope the smoker gets the wake up smack upside the head.

There is a reason they had a rule prohibiting lighting grills on the balcony. Fortunately, nobody was injured or killed, but a bunch of people lost everything.

I was out for a walk once and passed by a funeral home where someone had been smoking on a little mulch/tree island in their parking lot - I saw the mulch smoking and when in and told them; they were able to put it out with a couple pitchers of water. But so few people go for walks there, I hate to think of the interruption that could have caused during someone's memorial service if I hadn't just happened to be going by.

That is grounds for eviction in many apartment complexes. And, things like that are reasons that I hope I never, ever, ever have to live in a multi-unit dwelling again. The thought of losing my cat(s), photos, and other irreplaceable things because someone did something stupid, makes me shudder.

I hope you have renter's insurance. If not, I highly recommend it.

The #1 reason I never, ever, ever want to live in an apartment or condo again. Dawg some people are simply too stupid to live!

Was there much damage? If you need help, please let us know, but the important thing is that it was caught in time.

The carpet is wet from the water coming uner but that's about all.
It stinks from the burned material but that will pass.
