http://www.rawstory.com/2016/04/watch-florida-woman-pulls-gun-on-motorcyclists-punching-motorist-to-the-ground/comments/#disqusWhen's the anniversary of Florida's shoot first law? A decade ago I thought it was just nuts..unbelievable. Since those years, I have come to understand that a gun is the proper solution to road rage and other situations like an argument between two drunks in a bar.

(44,558 posts)I also saw that the three guys on the bikes were weaving through traffic so fast that the rest of the traffic seemed to be standing still. This went on for most of the video.
I saw one of the bikers make contact with the beemer early on when the beemer was switching lanes to the right and the bike came up from behind and passed him on the right hand side.
I saw the woman in the beemer pull out a gun on the bikers after they assaulted the guy and knocked him to the ground.
Even then she did not pull the trigger but just waved the gun at them.

(980 posts)I think he saw these guys speeding behind him and decided to slow them down. He was in the middle of the road and switched lanes to cut off the biker.
I've seen this before, people power-tripping.

(41,692 posts)Bikers were crazy fast and crazy weaving.
With that said...he should have let them go and not take on 3 guys.
ChisolmTrailDem
(9,463 posts)...right in front of the riders? That wasn't crazy or dangerous?
From what I saw, that's what started the entire thing.

(46 posts)He was moving over to the slow lane to let the reckless drivers pass on the left. Never seen the 'slower traffic keep right' signs??
These guys hit his car and then fled the scene of the collision. Then they beat him when he tried to get them to stop.
ChisolmTrailDem
(9,463 posts)And, hell yes, the goddamned beemer dude certainly did straddle the line and was not doing it in order to move to the slow lane.

You're blaming the victim. The bikers are a menace.

(41,692 posts)The bikers looked to running about 100 mph. The guy in the BMW was trying to get over but did it carefully---BECAUSE---he see's them flying from the rear so he wasn't sure which lane they would pass on. He wasn't trying to impede their progress---he was trying to get the hell out of the way.
A bit after that you see a biker passing a car on the right shoulder.
I've ridden bikes my whole life and these little crotch rocket assholes give law abiding bikers a black eye.
ChisolmTrailDem
(9,463 posts)...the fuck is wrong with you today? You've never been insulting to me before.
You think just because I see it differently that gives you license to insult me and imply that I am crazy somehow?

(66,281 posts)We actually have a law that covers this. It's even made the news fairly recently as a reminder.
That said, the bikers and the BMW driver are all idiots.
Xipe Totec
(44,558 posts)Because he saw the biker coming up from behind and switching lanes as well.
I've been caught like that sometimes, trying to get out of the way of a fast oncoming vehicle that doesn't give me a chance to yield the hight speed lane.

I also drive a BMW, and it's assholes like this who give us a bad name.
The assholes on the bikes were being, well... assholes.
The asshole in the BMW could have prevented becoming an asshole, by not following, then cutting them off after the bike assholes came up on him in the first place. He should have never stepped out of his car.
Damn assholes.

(41,692 posts)The bikers were at least going 100. You see something coming up on you that fast you kind of freeze---should i move over or let them pass on the left. The dude was trying to move over. Did you see the biker pass on the left shoulder a little bit later in the video.

(10,201 posts)The second time after the Beemer catches up, it cuts off the bike with the camera. At about 1:27 in the video.
trumad
(41,692 posts)But the biker who was flying at a high speed came up on the passenger side and slapped at the beemers side mirror. Not sure if he broke it or not.
This pissed the Beemer off and hence the chase. At 1:27 the Beemer comes into the picture and moves into the right lane...in front of the biker shooting the video. I wouldn't call that cutting him off...heck the biker didn't even slow down.
Look---they are all idiots...I just think the bikers were the bigger idiots.

(10,201 posts)IMO the BMW saw the bike coming up quickly in his rear view, went to move out of the way, saw another bike coming up quickly in the right, he hovered there, not sure what to do. Saw the bike in the right lane slow up and thought he could get out of the way by moving to the right, however by then the bike in the right lane had sped back up. He was screwed no matter what he did. Stay in the left and block up a bike coming up on him at excessive speed, or move to the right and block up a bike coming up on him at excessive speed.
If you look at the second encounter, regardless of whether or not the bike slowed up, he did cut that bike off. The bike was in the middle-left of the lane, and the Beemer was cutting into the right side of the lane parallel to the bike. Basically not allowing the bike full use of their lane (illegal), and cuts in, forcing the bike to the far right of the lane.
The bikes were playing stupid games, and the BMW driver let it get the best of him. If it were me, and a biker hit my mirror, I'd catch up, get a plate number then back off and let them continue on their way being assholes. Yes, they may very well kill someone else or themselves down the road, and I'd forever play the "what if I had done something more to stop them" game in my head for years to come. But simply backing off and reporting to the police is the safest course of action for all involved at that moment.

(1,232 posts)corpses further down the road.
He chose to give chase, get out of his car and confront the idiots. That was the car-driver's mistake.
I CHOOSE to give bike morons as much road as possible. Inevitably, some day, one day, they'll maybe learn their lesson and hopefully won't hurt anyone else or get seriously injured. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.
And I saw the bikers passing on the right a couple times I believe, which always scares the crap out of me.
Honestly, on the freeway I use my rear-view mirrors almost as much as I look front (left and right of course, too). That one habit alone has literally saved my life countless times.
I call bike riders pulling stunts like that 'organ donors' and Darwins. Hope their cards are up to date.

(41,692 posts)The best chases are in California.
sofa king
(10,857 posts)... because at least some California drivers are not utter fools, and thus can give chase.
The fools in the video above had forgotten what happened by the next stoplight, four hundred meters down the road. By then even the cameraman was off dealing with other forms of derp, like stalling his bike.
So you are saying that the people being chased by cops in a high speed chase are not fools.
Ok...gotcha!

(49,212 posts)We in Superior California have them beat on kidnappings, weird serial killers, and hostage situations, but we almost never have a good car chase.
We did have a fugitive who eluded the police via tractorjacking a few years back.

Virginia man with 'suspicious bacon' takes plea deal
http://www.richmond.com/news/virginia/article_d0cc0e72-b1e9-5568-bb15-a5f36504f906.html
A Madison Heights man accused of wearing a camouflage mask on a neighbors property with a firearm and suspicious bag of bacon pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor counts of carrying a gun while intoxicated and trespassing.
...
Arriving to the scene, Amherst County Sheriffs Deputy Susan Jackson spotted Cater lying face down in the woods with a camouflage shirt and camouflage hunting mask and a semi-automatic handgun fully loaded, said Childress. A few feet away was a bag of raw bacon with a sticky, oily substance that later was found to have contained an engine lubricant oil, Childress said.
...
Cater did not say why he had the bacon, Childress said. During questioning, Cater said, I only put the bacon in the bag. Nothing else, Childress said.
...
(Oh, but the stupid does not end there. Consider your Halloween options carefully in my fair Commonwealth.)
Cater is a military veteran with no prior criminal history, a factor in the commonwealth not prosecuting a felony charge of wearing a mask in public and two misdemeanor counts of drunk in public and attempting to poison a companion animal, Childress said.

(10,201 posts)I can't stop laughing.
Holy shit I'm crying.
Officer: "Why that's a mighty suspicious bag of bacon."
Other officer: "You high?"
Officer: "Better call SWAT!"
Other officer: "For bacon?"
Officer: "Tazer! Tazer! Tazer!"
Other officer: "The fuck are you doing? It's just bacon!"
Officer: "You smell that?... <long pause>... "Smells like victory."
Suspicious Bacon = New band name.
