Ah that tinfoil fits nice... media fixation... Prince

every time we have a major media MY GOD, cannot walk and talk at the same time, aka fixation on a story... I always ask... so what else is going on in the world they are not telling us? (I love my foreign feeds for some of this)

Obama is in the UK, and had a press conference with PM Cameron, where he warned the Brits to stay within the EU... would be best for them...

Trump is already moving to GE mode... there was a meeting this morning with GOP brass in Florida... to be fair CNN has been treating this as a story we mention in passing.

The world is on the way to have the hottest year since records and we might have crossed the 2 degree centigrade mark... yes this could and will reinforce reverse loops. I am thinking permafrost by the way.

Yes in the Panama Papers front, about 7.8 trillion of global wealth is in things like trusts, foundations and off shore accounts. That is a SHIT LOAD OF MONEY by the way.

Of course very locally my City Council is doing all it can to prevent a substantive reform of the Citizens Review Board. Yup local media did go prince all the time last night.

From Immigration, must crossed my desk...

On May 12, 2016, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will begin premium processing for cap-subject H-1B petitions requesting premium processing, including petitions seeking an exemption for individuals with a U.S. master’s degree or higher. USCIS first announced in a news release that it would temporarily adjust its premium processing practice due to the historic premium processing receipt levels, combined with the possibility that the H-1B cap will be met in the first 5 business days of the filing season.

Of all of these, that one about climate change is critical for planetary survival. Nothing much after all.

Happy earth day.

Is that tin foil matching my complexion? I never know.

Fri Apr 22, 2016, 07:35 PM
Apr 2016

We are watching the Sixties - and it is focusing on the JFK assassination and aftermath, including so much footage I've never seen. Just watching Walter Cronkite was a breath of fresh air. The loss of he, Daniel Schorr - so, so, so sad.

And since I was only 7 when it all happened, it staggered me how much time the news spent on the Warren commission and the various controversies. Fascinating stuff - they took the audience on a ride that today's audience would never really get to experience - clearly more respect for the intellect of audiences back then.

we are covering a local trial, that involves a local sheriff and what I think was road rage.

It is the prelim... I am actually going over what each side said, and how they are building their case.

My local ABC affiliate, three people took the stand and told the story from each point of view.

That is it. I was like, you shit me? It is a hell of a contrast. The judge read the coverage and was surprised, since that is the way courts USED to be covered.

And like you I know how the lack of truth affects those who are much younger. I include the loss of Walter Cronkite. When he finally announce the hour and the death of John Kennedy we all believed it. There was no reason to not believe that man. He was truth itself.

Sadly everything has changed so there is no inkling of what came before.

amd will be remembered long after most other news of the day is forgotten. Of course, comparing episodic news like the death of one of the world's most famous artists with ongoing situation like climate change or H-1B caps being filled within days just like they are every single is completely disingenuous; the unusual news always gets higher priority because people are legitimately interested in it. But carry on patting yourself on the back, it's what you've always done best.

the death of a president is when news stopped, or used to. The death of an entertainer was not treated this way until relatively recently. Trust me, CNN-I, did not do this. Their audience is far more sophisticated and would not tolerate 24 - 7 coverage. They prove they can if you watch both channels side by side.

And by the way... climate change is far more significant than any of us. As to H1B visas, tell me when was the last time you saw that on CNN? Please do, link if possible.

51. And for some reason it still chaps your hide, that we actually RUN A PAPER
Sat Apr 23, 2016, 12:11 PM
Apr 2016

as small as it is.

And we cover NEWS.

Question oh all seeing one, What are the requirements to cover a major candidate political rally? Well CREDENTIALS. Mine are up to date with the county, are yours?

What are the requirements to be allowed to photograph and record in state court? Credentials.

What are the requirements to go behind fire lines: Credentials,

All these credentials are well MEDIA CREDENTIALS. Mine were good enough for the United States Secret Service. Mostly they were issued by the San Diego Police Department.

What is required to be in the MEDIA PIT at City Hall? CREDENTIALS.

So you have teaching credentials, do you want me to start questioning your credentials? Becuase that is exactly what you are doing. We have chosen a very difficult route money flow wise. But we are still an accredited media outlet. And for some reason that chaps your hide. At this point it is quite humorous to see you do that this often. The joke is on you. I really do not know, or for that matter give two shits about it, it really chaps your hide. But you really should stop, It really makes you look silly given what we have covered, all of which requires those silly credentials. If we were just a hobby blog, we would not be getting access into all those places.

In fact, after Sanders was done, he went to the overflow room, and many of us were filing quick and short stories from our phones, and making jokes about lack of coffee or for that matter wi fi. A bunch of reporters, no wifi or coffee... THE HORROR!

And trust me the Secret Service is pretty picky about letting people in. In case you wonder, no Cruz did not have a Secret Service detail, but he still had security CHECK CREDENTIALS and so did the campaign. People without CURENT media credentials did not get in as well MEDIA.

I mean really must chap your hide to still be in this quixotic campaign of yours. And at this point, after we have covered all that, this is just extremely humorous. You know who else does this shit? I'll tell you, Conservatives who hate media. Are you one?

It's a question, OK?

I am not suggesting your information is wrong, nor am I attacking you personally.

But I do question your writing style, as someone who calls herself a "Journalist". I understand English may not be your primary language, but if you were to read what you write before you post you may often find your syntax needs work.

That's all I am suggesting. Read what you write before you post.

Have a nice day.

Thanks. You too.

Another who gets his hide chapped over this I suppose.

Why in the world would I get my "hide chapped" over anything you are involved with? Who gives a fuck if you are associated with a news outlet in San Diego? Good for you! Well done! Proof reading is important!

I did not know (Well I did) that DU was such a nice conservative place.

Suggesting someone who claims to be a journalist simply proofread before posting makes DU a conservative place?

Wow. That's a stretch of logic I haven't seen in quite a long time.

You are entirely too THIN SKINNED.

I did not comment on a spelling error. I commented on your apparent lack of proofreading.

I don't think it is out of the ordinary, nor is it unreasonable to suggest - I am MERELY suggesting - that you, as someone who touts their "credentials" as a journalist, actually do one of the most basic procedures before publishing.

If you think that is bully behavior or an attempt to run you off, then I submit you have very thin skin.

You just can't take criticism of any kind. You reject it out of hand, and instead of taking it in the spirit in which it is intended (to hopefully make you a better writer, or at least more careful) you insist I am bullying you.

The last time you and I had an exchange was at least a couple years ago, when you answered a question about the term "Risk Free Rate" regarding investing. When I asked you to tell me what that was, you couldn't do it and when I asked you to explain a Treasury rate quote that you had brought up, instead of simply saying "I am not familiar with that" or "I am not sure how that works" you insisted you had the answer and were completely and utterly wrong! When I pointed that out to you, you essentially threw your hands up in the air, deleted all your posts in the sub-thread and buggered off, saying I was "brutal".

Nadin, I appreciate the fact that you actually go out and collect news. I appreciate the fact that you are passionate about what you do, but for you to insist you are being bullied simply because you are getting some gentle criticism, speaks volumes.

You wrote: "At this pint..." which I thought was a rather amusing typo. I'm not real sure how that can be construed as an "attack", unless you perhaps consider "Absolute proof" as another thinly veiled reference to your state of inebriation.

Fact is Nadin, that especially in the context of your self-proclaimed journalistic prowess, your writing would make an English teacher cringe. Not an attack, just some--hopefully constructive--criticism.

why should I provide you with essentially a police issued ID? Or are you going to provide me a copy of your passport or any other ID that could be used for identity theft?

here is the evidence of what I just posted... but you will keep denying it.

https://reportingsandiego.com/2016/04/12/2000-san-diegans-attend-cruz-rally/

Media credentials required for me to get that close to Cruz

https://reportingsandiego.com/2016/03/23/13000-san-diegans-came-to-hear-senator-bernie-sanders/

Media credentials required by the Secret Service of the United States...those photos were NOT taken from the public POV, we were behind mostly the public.

https://reportingsandiego.com/2016/04/20/state-of-mind-during-the-confrontation-between-branch-and-detective-ward/

Media credentials required under CA law to take those photos.

Here you go, the actual order from the COURT. Make whatever you want about that, m'kay.

http://www.sdcourt.ca.gov/pls/portal/docs/PAGE/SDCOURT/GENERALINFORMATION/PACO2/NEWSANDMEDIA/010416-03%20-%20PHOTOGRAPHY%20AND%20BROADCASTING%20IN%20COURTHOUSE.PDF

https://reportingsandiego.com/2015/06/17/wild-fire-at-barona-reservation-at-150-acres/

Media credentials required

https://reportingsandiego.com/2015/02/10/mike-montana-surrenders-to-sdpd-swat/

Media credentials required. We were within the PD perimeter for media.

https://reportingsandiego.com/2016/01/05/fire-responds-to-reported-partial-collapse/

Media credentials required. Again we were within the perimeter set by SDFD.

https://reportingsandiego.com/2015/12/16/san-diego-city-council-passes-historic-climate-action-plan/

From the Media pit, media credentials required.

https://reportingsandiego.com/2015/02/05/environmental-impact-report-on-solar-in-boulevard-accepted-by-county/

Again, media pit, credentials required.

Keep it up, but perhaps I need to start questioning YOUR TEACHING CREDENTIALS and teaching ability on very much a lack of analytical ability.

Now the obvious question is, why do you hate independent media? This is a conservative trait I think. So why do you hate independent media?

Oh and one more thing... papers these days, recognized media outlets, are not all the time physical any longer. I know this really chaps your hide.

You seem to be in danger of losing the plot. Perhaps you need to take a deep breath and dial back on the paranoia level. No-one is bullying you. One would have thought that a journalist would have a thicker skin.

By the way, regarding your comment about world news - Obama is an amiable clown and no-one here is fooled by his "special relationship" drivel. Whatever the US's reason for wanting us to stay in the EU, no-one here, apart from those desperate to stay on the right side of the neighbourhood bully, gives a fuck.

And since I think you are posting for the UK, I did not make any comment about the special relationship, I just pointed out what he did. I find the photos of him and the young Prince to be quite the propaganda coup though. And will not matter in 50 years like some here believe they will.

to me a respected journalist should have a source in the written form that one can pick up and read and smell and turn pages.
