Shoemaker New Balance is criticizing the Obama administration over the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The company is trying to make a running shoe with 100 percent American parts and feel the trade deal will doom shoes made in the U.S.

(51,076 posts)according to my nurse wife. She's on her feet a lot and won't even consider any other brand of shoe.
Back in my working days it was redwings for me. I've got a pair of Dr marten dress shoes that I've been wearing for 20 or so years now. Admittedly its only a few times a year but they're some mighty fine wearing shoes.

(25,251 posts)And not just because they're made in the USA. I have a hard-to-find shoe size and these canoes fit me. You can't get a women's 12N just about anywhere.

(3,210 posts)Back in the late '80s I read an article in "Runners World" that rated athletic shoes, and they said that NB made the best athletic shoes for big guys. I'm a big guy, 6'2" 225 at the time, and in my late 30s starting to have foot problems due to serious pronation.
I love that my shoe company is still producing shoes in this country and fighting for American jobs.

(3,537 posts)I have been a employee of New Balance in Maine for 30 yrs. I am proud of the management team who are always looking for ways to make shoes in the US. And I am proud of my coworkers who have the skill to make quality American Made shoes.
