U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley suggested on Friday that the FBI might leak reports of its investigation into presidential candidate Hillary Clintons use of a private email server as secretary of state.
Grassley, Iowas senior senator and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said an anonymous and unauthorized release of FBI investigative materials could result if officials at the agency believed prosecution of Clinton was stymied for political reasons.
Is there going to be political interference? If theres enough evidence to prosecute, will there be political interference? Grassley wondered aloud during a breakfast meeting with the Des Moines A.M. Rotary club on Friday. And if theres political interference, then I assume that somebody in the FBI is going to leak these reports and its either going to have an effect politically or its going to lead to prosecution if theres enough evidence.
...............
I wouldnt be encouraging it because if its a violation of law, I cant be encouraging a violation of law, he said. This is kind of my own opinion, this is something Ive heard.

(24,411 posts)The FBI granted immunity to Brian Pagliano, the man who built her server. This is a full-blown investigation.
The FBI have begun interviewing Clinton's aids and Clinton will be interviewed as well.
What she has done is unprecedented.
Where on earth are you getting that conducting all State business on a homebrew, unsecured server that even the President didn't know about--is not a criminal activity? Furthermore, the FBI has all ready revealed that 22 of the emails recovered from her server were classified as "Top Secret". That classification is reserved for information that if made public, "Would cause serious or grave danger to the United States."
Either you are incredibly unaware and ignorant of the reality that is happening here, or you are just being cute.
I suggest you do some reading. This is an extremely serious matter that could upend our Democratic elections.

(24,411 posts)The FBI is investigating Hillary's use of her private, homemade, unsecured email server, on which she sent emails containing classified and Top Secret Information.
The FBI said three weeks ago that the majority of their INVESTIGATION has concluded and that they will interview Clinton and her aids in the "coming weeks and months".
Why are they interviewing her...to swap recipies. Your bizarre attempt at damage control is ridiculous.
They are most certainly investigating the details surrounding her private email server, and that includes examining her emails. The FBI went to the trouble of recovering, reading and investigating the 30,000 emails that she deleted from her server.
What exactly is the FBI doing? Knitting Clinton a hat? Training for an Olympic swimming event?
You are beyond bizarre with your word parsing! What else does the FBI DO, beyond investigating?! You people are nutty!

02/08/16 05:30 PMUPDATED 02/08/16 06:58 PM
In a letter disclosed Monday in a federal court filing, the FBI confirms one of the worlds worst-kept secrets: It is looking into Hillary Clintons use of a private email server.
Why say this at all, since it was widely known to be true? Because in August in response to a judges direction, the State Department asked the FBI for information about what it was up to. Sorry, the FBI said at the time, we can neither confirm nor deny the existence of any investigation.
Now, in a letter dated February 2 and filed in court Monday, the FBIs general counsel, James Baker, notes that in public statements and congressional testimony, the FBI has acknowledged generally that it is working on matters related to former Secretary Clintons use of a private email server.
Baker says the FBI has not, however, publicly acknowledged the specific focus, scope or potential targets of any such proceedings.

(24,411 posts)is because Hillary Clinton used a home brew, unsecured email server in which she conducted all of her state business.
The existence of that email server is so serious. It's unprecedented. No high-level government official has done this before.
They're investigating Hillary's server. Which she owned. That was in her house. That she hired and paid someone to build.
If it somehow gives you great comfort to parse words and say that the FBI is investigating Hillary's illegal, unsecured, home brew server and the circumstances surrounding that server...Hey, whatever floats your boat!

(6,153 posts)The House could indict (impeach) her, and then the Senate could convict her. The charge could be for picking her nose if they so desired.

(56,198 posts)yes, they can impeach presidents, vice-presidents, and judges for picking their noses.
but they can't impeach people who haven't taken those offices yet for any reason. impeachment simply doesn't apply.
