Rafael Cruz: "We were on our knees for two hours. At the end a word came through his wife, Heidi..."

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/02/rafael-cruz-ted-cruz-campaign-god-sign

Ted Cruz decided to run for president after God spoke to his wife, Heidi.

That's how Rafael Cruz, Ted's father and a born-again pastor, described his son's decision-making process. Speaking on a syndicated radio show at the end of last year, the elder Cruz recounted that during a Sunday prayer session at a Texas church, Ted Cruz and his family sought God's guidance as to whether the senator should enter the presidential race, and after two hours of praying, God sent a message to Heidi that essentially said: Go for it.

Here's the story, according to Rafael Cruz:

My son Ted and his family spent six months in prayer seeking God's will for this decision. But the day the final green light came on, the whole family was together. It was a Sunday. We were all at his church, First Baptist Church in Houston, including his senior staff. After the church service, we all gathered at the pastor's office. We were on our knees for two hours seeking God's will. At the end of that time, a word came through his wife, Heidi. And the word came, just saying, "Seek God's face, not God's hand." And I'll tell you, it was as if there was a cloud of the holy spirit filling that place. Some of us were weeping, and Ted just looked up and said, "Lord, here am I, use me. I surrender to you, whatever you want." And he felt that was a green light to move forward.

In the wake of Boehner's comments about Cruz, Mother Jones ran an excellent (and exhaustive) piece on the many people who loathe Cruz, with all of the gory details.

And in typical "all roads lead to Rome" fashion, the common thread was that Cruz is a dick who does not play well with others. He invited himself to meetings he was never invited to, he was the prototype "self-proclaimed" expert...kinda the way George Zimmerman was a "self-appointed neighborhood watch" thug.

So yeah...maybe this was the only way God thought he could teach Cruz a lesson.

Or maybe he imagined it all because it fit his agenda.

18. Basically...
Fri Apr 29, 2016, 11:21 PM
Apr 2016

...I take it to mean that God's hand would be a set of circumstances in which Cruz was well-liked, admired, and carried a resume that make him Presidential material. Maybe a distinguished Military career, coupled with helping to write and pass legislation that showed him to be a leader with a keen interest in what is best for the American people. And as we all know, he did none of that. He battled to make dildos illegal in Texas and shut down the government. And even his own daughter shrinks away in disgust when he tries to hug her.

So God's face is basically God's word, which in the simplest terms is that on-his-knees Ted sees himself as the anointed one, so he probably dug into the Bible for things like Joseph being a slave in Pharaoh's house (Genesis 39). The punchline is that Joseph did his time and walked away with all the marbles. Read Cruz's reaction to the Boehner attack (I posed it yesterday, you can find it in GD). He thinks Boehner is pissed off because he is "energizing Republicans." See the connection? It's a classic persecution complex, so Ted dips into the Bible and channels every persecuted figure and sees "God's face" in it, and feels that all of the hatred and lack of respect is proof that he is the anointed one.

Remember Jethro Tull's "Hymn 43" from "Aqualung?"

If Jesus saves -- well, He'd better save Himself from the gory glory seekers who use His name in death

"In death" is basically Christian shorthand for:

Cruz: "Jesus told my wife to tell my wife that he wants me to run for President."

Jesus: "No I didn't."

I can already hear Cruz's concession speech, about how he will be undeterred in doing God's work for the American people.

Hadn't thought about the lyrics to that song in a long time! And you are correct! and then there's the American Indian perspective on the gory glory seekers...

It's 8+ minutes but lyrics are so powerful, especially the part where he - John Trudell - says,

"To god, we don't mean any disrespect but we want to talk to you about these christians..."

And what follows pretty much says it all for me. I spend a good part of my time with Indians and participate in some of their cultural events so I see this up close and personal often.

...and loaded up on peyote so they could watch the sun come up while out of their skulls.

Cruz has taken the special brand of insane zealotry we've come to know and love from people like Santorum and Bachmann and run with it.

I see no coincidence in the fact that the articles touting how "GOP Elites" are "warming up to" Trump appeared within 24 hours of Cruz's Fiorina announcement. Sometimes enough is enough, you know? No matter what we may think of Republicans, I do believe that in 2016, they understand that they are screwed no matter which way they turn.

1). Donald Trump...beaten to a pulp in the GE

2). Ted Cruz...take that Trump pulp and beat it even more mercilessly, leaving egg-stained faces on the GOP that will endure for the next few election cycles

3), Draft Paul Ryan...revolt, anger, and a lifetime of bad P.R. for the party

So Trump really has become the lesser of three evils, and man oh man, is that tragic.
