Toddlers have shot at least 23 people this year

This past week, a Milwaukee toddler fatally shot his mother after finding a handgun in the back seat of the car they were riding in. The case drew a lot of national attention given the unusual circumstances: Little kids rarely kill people, intentionally or not.

But this type of thing happens more often than you might think. Since April 20, there have been at least seven instances in which a 1- , 2- or 3-year-old shot themselves or somebody else in the United States:

On April 20, a 2-year-old boy in Indiana found the gun his mother left in her purse on the kitchen counter and fatally shot himself.
The next day in Kansas City, Mo., a 1-year-old girl evidently shot and killed herself with her father's gun while he was sleeping.
On April 22, a 3-year-old in Natchitoches, La., fatally shot himself after getting hold of a gun.
On April 26, a 3-year-old boy in Dallas, Ga., fatally shot himself in the chest with a gun he found at home.
On April 27, the Milwaukee toddler fatally shot his mother in the car.
That same day, a 3-year-old boy in Grout Township, Mich., shot himself in the arm with a gun he found at home. He is expected to survive.
On April 29, a 3-year-old girl shot herself in the arm after grabbing a gun in a parked car in Augusta, Ga. She is also expected to survive.

Then it is too smart for a lot of gun nuts.

Maybe they will be smart enough to run away from dangerous a-holes and throw themselves into storm sewers or better still a steel smelter.

....that's actually a very small number.

For comparison over 30,000 die from falling every year and over 38,000 die from accidental poisoning.
But I don't think those 60,000+ dead people will get any threads for some reason.

Except that we label poisons and set up poison hotlines, we put up guard rails or barriers so people fall less. What measures should be taken about six people getting shot every month by toddlers? Doing nothing doesn't seem to be working, and in fact, the proliferation of guns seems to be contributing to more people getting shot by their kids.

This country has benefited greatly from Toddler culture. I come from a long line of Toddlers, and my people have tried very hard to contribute to this country; but close-minded people like you have made it very hard. Have you no decency?

Project ChildSafe is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit charitable organization committed to promoting firearms safety among firearms owners through the distribution of safety education messages and free firearm Safety Kits. The kits include a cable-style gun-locking device and a brochure (also available in Spanish) that discusses safe handling and secure storage guidelines to help deter access by unauthorized individuals

weekend as a 16yr. I had no parental instincts then, I have none now. Never been married or had kids for the simple reason that I feel that children should be born at 16 ready to get a drivers license and put to work.

Thank God I was dating a girl who liked kids. Me, never had that ability and I guess at 68 never will.

But I thought those that had those instincts might have found the article interesting.

Me I don't trust my tv remote around a toddler much less a firearm. Hell I don't trust adults around firearms.

One of my greatest hopes is that our next president (Clinton) will have a Democratic Senate and she will prioritize GUN SAFETY.

I also hope she pick the next SCOTUS's with GUN SAFETY in mind.

This national gun culture has gotten too far out of hand.
