I was shocked, I almost didn't recognize her. Is she alright? I know that she had been ill some time ago, but she looks totally different than she used to look.

(269,254 posts)Couldn't believe it either, but it was nice to see her well enough to be there. She hasn't been well for some time and she looked very shaky. JK walked very slowly and took her to her seat before he greeted folks.

(30,253 posts)I like Teresa, she was always so vibrant and intelligent. She looked frail and bloated in that pic (I don't mean just weight gain). I hope she's alright.

(30,253 posts)I remember that she had been ill, but I didn't know the details.
Head injuries are so dangerous. I still remember Natasha Richardson's passing from what she thought was a nothing fall.
"The cause of her seizure, she said, wasn't related to her 2009 treatment for breast cancer, but rather the lingering effects "after a bad concussion that was not properly treated at all ... from a very bad fall," four years ago."
Educational article too, regarding concussions in general.

(26,315 posts)I don't think there's been any confirmed info on what her health issues are, but it does look as if they are not insignificant.
But since her husband accepted the job as Secretary of State, knowing how much time he will be away from home, I'm guessing the health issues are quite as dramatic as I feared they might be.

(7,755 posts)When your body has abnormally high levels of a hormone called cortisol. This can happen for a variety of reasons, the most common of which is corticosteroid medications.
Symptoms include a round-shaped face, upper body weight gain, and skin that bruises easily.
I had a friend I hadn't seen in several years who was on prednisone and when I saw her I absolutely didn't recognize her. She had the round face, buggy eyes, and had gained tons of upper body weight. After she quit taking it, it took years for her to return to normal.

(7,755 posts)different than she did before. I didn't realize she was that much shorter than he is either. Actually, it's a nice pic. I hope she's feeling good though.

(86,889 posts)I also watched the video of the Jazz Night at the White House from last night too She was at that event also though she was not wearing purple, most of the artists did ear something purple, the lighting was predominant;y purple and there was a brief Prince tribute. His female drummer played during the last half hour on several songs... it was an awesome hour and a half of incredible music. It's posted here, which is where I saw it...
