Time to disengage.

(3,528 posts)...is to pump as much money through the electioneering machine as possible. Money flows from corporate coffers into super PACS and then right back into corporate media outlets. Such an obvious money trail yet none can see it...

(12,864 posts)The longer it goes on, the more money pours into it, the more influence that money has. Viewed as the normal process, this legalized bribery is hidden in plain sight.
With a much shorter and more sane process, huge piles of cash would be more noticeable.

(1,717 posts)it's also pathetic in its fixation on the "horse race" aspect
of the Forever Campaign, and its studious avoidance of
substantive issues and down ticket races.
I do believe it is deliberate - an effort to demobilize the
American people by disgusting them with the political
process.
And, oh yes, it is also no accident that Ms. Clinton received at
least ten times the media coverage as Bernie.

President Obama, during the Correspondent's Dinner, gave an amazing comedy/satire performance. Larry Wilmore commented that the President should get out of his lane.

(40,416 posts)No wonder that we are fractured here. What the UK and Canada do in weeks, we do in so fucking many years. Of course, the only folks who gain by that are those who promote and profit by the horse race. But even a horse race lasts only a couple of minutes.
It is sad! And DU has become very sad because it has bought into the idiotic perpetual campaign narrative.
You fools!

I've probably already fallen too far behind to be viable in 2020 or 2024

(34,582 posts)We need six months, with the primaries happening at the same time. The fact that early primaries influence the later primaries is ridiculous.
