(4,176 posts)before many of you were born, or at least before you were in high school, I will not take that as an insult to me.
I am so far left it would make you head spin, as they say.
But I am finding many here are not left at all unless it is about their pocketbooks.

(53,475 posts)BTW, I graduated high school in the mid-60's.
It's my impression that many of Hillary's supporters are right of Richard Nixon. As for me, I'm a little left of Abbie Hoffman, circa 1968.
Jackie Wilson Said
(4,176 posts)As much as I dislike much of what HIllary is about, there is nothing remotely similar to her and Nixon.
Listen to the guys tapes sometime, find out who you are comparing her to.

(53,475 posts)Nixon started the EPA and did a couple other things that would be considered "left wing hippie unicorns" by Hillary and her supporters. Price controls, for example.
Jackie Wilson Said
(4,176 posts)Nixon created the EPA by executive order in 1970 as a sop to the anti-Vietanm war left not because he thought an EPA was needed.
Nixon reassigned to the EPA the ongoing environmental protection activities of other federal agencies.
So Nixons move was little more than a cynical bureaucratic reshuffling done to facilitate his Vietnam policies not some proud legacy of the Republican party.

(3,764 posts)because I am enthusiastic about her, I will vote for her because Trump (and Cruz even more so) scare me. I'm a little scared of Hillary, but not as much as the others. I don't trust her, but she's less scary than the alternative.

(82,849 posts)Please do a little research on how reliable Rasmussen has been over the last eight years or so, because the popular media isn't going to do it for you; they're heavily invested in the horse race narrative. If Rasmussen polling was worth the pixels it uses, Mitt Romney would be just finishing up his first term.
Tarheel_Dem
(31,234 posts)Rasmussen was the only polling firm, in 2012, that consistently showed Romney beating Obama by several points. Nate Silver rates Rasmussen as a (C), with a means reverted bias of +2.3 (Republican).
