For the record, I think it's a VERY good thing you don't have a gun around students.

Ammosexual was coined to denigrate gun owners by conflating their choice to be armed with being a homosexual, as if that were a bad thing. Everyone knows what you mean when you say it. It's not clever. Seems everyone who uses that term is a homophobiahomophobic asshole.

Own it.

I imagine if you called my gay, concealed carrying brother in law an ammosexual to his face...well you wouldnt. You're the keyboard type of activist. It would be funny to watch the aftermath though.

Cocks not glocks: Dildos to replace guns at UT-Austin campus carry protest

By Lauren McGaughy

Updated 1:30 pm, Saturday, October 10, 2015

AUSTIN - Hundreds of students at the University of Texas at Austin will protest a new law will allow more guns on campus not with signs or sit-ins, but by "strapping gigantic swinging dildos to our backpacks."

Their mantra? #CocksNotGlocks

Jessica Jin, who set up the "Campus (DILDO) Carry" event on Facebook, invokes the argument that allowing more guns on campus will make students safe is a fallacy. She's urging students to send campus leaders that message by strapping on the plastic phalluses.

"'You're carrying a gun to class? Yeah well I'm carrying a HUGE DILDO,'" Jin says in the group's description. "Just about as effective at protecting us from sociopathic shooters, but much safer for recreational play."

More than 330 people had signed up to participate by Saturday morning. The "strap in" will occur on Aug. 24, 2016, the first day of next year's fall semester.

The event was created the same day one student was killed and another wounded in a shooting at Texas Southern University, and just days after other deadly shootings on campuses in Oregon and Arizona.

Or just a doubling down on your willingness to commit a crime and potentially cost someone else their health or safety because you want to harass someone who is obeying the law but has offended you personally?

Two options...

You tell the truth that you saw a man with a gun carrying it in a holster in a non threatening manner but it bothers you and you'd like them to come 'check him out'. At that point the police will tell you that he's doing nothing illegal and they have no reason to come.

or...

You lie and say that he is behaving in a threatening manner and they need to get there right fuck NOW. Now you're the actual criminal and you've placed the lives of others in jeapordy by creating an unsafe and stressful situation and you've drawn actual resources from someone who needed them.

Either way.... Doesn't look good for you... Unless you don't care about ethics or morals or the law... Then you are good to go I guess..

If it's legal and you are honest the police should leave that person alone and tell you to quit wasting police time.

If you lie to get a rise out of them, that's on you.

Maybe you are just so comfortably insulated in your safe space that you can't conceive that someone would make a choice you don't like and thus your first response is to reach out to an authority figure to have them deal with it for you instead of either a) ignoring it or b) talking to them like an adult.

This is like dealing with a Trump or Bushco. The Police will send out a person to check out the gun carrying idiot at a school or department store.

I own one gun and it's in a safe. I never have been so scared to have it with me everywhere. I'm not brained washed like that.

I think it's the same kind of person that's so scared that when a person knocks on the door at night they would shoot that person.

I remember seeing lights from flash lights around my front glass door, and I didn't think the first thing to do was get a gun and shoot them. It was the Police telling me that my garage door was still open.

We get alerts whenever a gun is spotted, both by telephone in my office, and thru email.

Folks here in this thread are attempting to convince me to risk my own life and the lives of my students simply to avoid inconveniencing a gunman, insisting that they know the law better than I do, and also insisting that they have more authority over my classroom than I do.

I don't think calling for a real sighting of a real firearm (or very realistic fake) would be a crime, honestly.

If you knew it to be fake (such as a drill team) and just wanted to piss people off, or told 911 that he was waving it around when he was not, there would be a problem.

Simply calling 911 should not be a problem. The first time you see the person with the gun.

However, if you know the person was carrying legally, had carried before peacefully, and you were just trying to 'push back' on a law you don't like, you do deserve a sit-down with a very grumpy Chief of Police.

In many states that have passed campus carry there were campus sexual assault survivors lobbying for it. Are you saying they are just paranoid nut jobs? Or that we should deny the most effective means of self defense to people while on campus who may be targets of sexual violence?

Colorado, Idaho, Wisconsin, Kansas, Mississippi, Oregon, Utah, Texas, and now Tennessee have some form of campus carry. After tomorrow, we may be able to add Georgia to the list. The goal is all 50, and all 50 should have constitutional carry (Vermont carry) - no permit required. The 2A is the only permit one needs.

Most states essentially allow guns everywhere, prohibiting adults to carry on college campuses doesn't make sense. If guns are carried at the gas station, the grocery store, and dozens of other places...what makes college campuses special? Nothing. Homicidal nuts and criminals are going to carry anyway. Gun free zones just enable rampage killers.

I'm not paranoid, not a loser, and I'm well trained in use of my firearms and a certified instructor in multiple states.

I take classes after work. Right now the law says I have to leave my pistol in my car on campus, so I do. Big that's foolish because the campus is known to have had strings to break-ins to vehicles on campus with things stolen. Some of my classmates know what I do for a living and it wouldn't be hard for someone I had a class with or a friend to assume the can steal a gun from my car.

Concealed on my person I know that won't happen.

The gun is at fat more risk of being taken and misused because the law says I have to leave it locked in a car out in a big, unguarded parking lot.

the same way as it applies off campus. And this law still contains restrictions, as well as only applying to staff and faculty...

The law, which allows faculty and staff with state-issued handgun carry permits to carry, is more limited than a bill that Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal must decide on by Tuesday. That measure would allow anyone age 21 and up to carry a concealed handgun on campus with the proper permit.

The Tennessee law, which takes effect on July 1, will keep gun bans in place for stadiums or gymnasiums while school-sponsored events are in progress; meetings where disciplinary or tenure issues are being discussed; hospitals or offices where medical or mental health services are provided; and any location prohibited by another law, such as at day care centers or elementary schools located on campus.

Sometimes as a statewide policy, sometimes left up to individual schools. Is anyone aware of any shooting that resulted from such a policy? I've never heard of one.

Someone accidentally shot themselves. I should have been more specific - any evidence that someone shot another person in anger because of campus carry? Anywhere in any state?

They're saying the same thing and come off with republican statements. They pretend to be democrats, but once they open their mouths it game over. I'm having to repeat over and over. Because they're obsessed and bit looney and sound like palin/trump supporters.

You can sometimes tell paranoid loser gun nut republican, they're obsessed with having a gun culture.

Gun culture brought to you by the republican party and nra.
