Bill Clinton's World Tra_de Organization Services Deal
Blocks all future New Deal - like stuff. This isnt commonly known, it seems, by economists.
It also incrementally privatizes services unless they are an exercise of governmental authority, supplied neither on a commercial basis, nor in competition with one or more service suppliers. This is broadly called "progressive liberalisation", a term which basically means "irreversible privatization" in the most literal way. There is no escape possible from this 1995 'agreement' (which is little known in the US because of what appears to be a conscious decision by he media to avoid any story which mentions it, even presidential candidates who were seen as likely to mention it were denied virtually all news coverage until it seemed unlikely that they would.
The deal, whose name starts with a G - has an AT in the middle and ends with S, globalizes the potentially commercial services by placing the WTO in charge of international e-procurement of them. The lowest bidding firm must win. Because of our high wages, we wont win jobs in our own country unless wages go way down. So, no more stimulus programs.
Now the developing world is anxiously awaiting for the e-procurement of all those jobs to start becoming available to bid on.
Luckily for them, somebody who is sympathetic to their needs is likely to be selected to help them.
So basically, the leaders of the country have intentionally attempted to create a divisive, potentially ugly conflict between the developing world and the US and EU middle class. They have in multiple secret deals, promised the same future to two different groups of people.
Except one is in writing. Guess which one.
That situation is so very important - yet news of it is being suppressed in the media and on web sites.
